Prayers.

Harwich Roads.

ORDERED, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for the Repair of the Highway between London and Harwich: And that Sir Eliab Harvey and Mr. Conyers do prepare, and bring in, the Bill.

Tryals for Treason.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Saturday Morning next, take into Consideration the Amendments, made by the Lords, to the Bill, intituled, An Act, for Regulating of Tryals in Cases of Treason, and Misprision of Treason.

Eucouragement of Privateers.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Saturday Morning next, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the Bill for Encouragement of Privateers.

Fees to be paid by Members.

Ordered, That every Knight of the Shire do, upon Tuesday next, when the House, is called over, pay to the Serjeant Ten Shillings; and every other Member of the House, Five Shillings; for the Use of the Servants of the House; to be distributed by Mr. Speaker.

Ways and Means.

Sir Thomas Littleton, according to the Order of the Day, reported, from the Committee of the whole House, to whom it was referred to consider further of Ways and Means for raising the Supply to be granted to his Majesty, for carrying on the War against France, the Resolutions of the said Committee; which they had directed him to report to the House; and which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were read; and are as follow; viz.

Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That towards the Supply to be granted to his Majesty, for carrying on the War against France, the Duties upon all Wines, and Vinegar, granted by an Act made in the First Year of King James the Second; and since continued to the Four-and-twentieth Day of June 1698; be continued further to the Nine-and-twentieth Day of September 1701.

Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That, towards the Supply to be granted to his Majesty, for carrying on the War against France, the Duties upon all Tobacco, granted by an Act made in the First Year of King James the Second; and since continued to the 24th Day of June 1698; be continued further to the 29th Day of September 1701.

Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That, towards the Supply to be granted to his Majesty, for carrying on the War against France, the Duties upon all East-India Goods, and Manufactures, and upon all wrought Silks, and several other Goods and Merchandize, granted by an Act made in the Second Year of King William and Queen Mary; and since continued to the Tenth Day of November 1697; be continued further to the 29th Day of September 1701.

The said Resolutions, being severally read a Second time, were, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Ordered, That a Bill be brought in according to the said Resolutions: And that Mr. Attorney-General, Mr. Solicitor-General, Mr. Godolphin, Mr. Serjeant Bond, Mr. England, Sir Chr. Musgrave, Mr. Elwill, Mr. Yates, Mr. Henly, Sir Wm. Scawen, Mr. Bohun, or any Three of them, do prepare, and bring in, the Bill.

Ordered, That a Clause of Credit be brought into the said Bill.

East-Grinsted Election.

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee of Privileges and Elections, touching the Election for the Borough of East-Grinsted, in the County of Sussex, be made upon Saturday Morning next.

Debtors Relief.

Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for Relief of poor Prisoners for Debt: And that Sir John Lowther do prepare, and bring in, the said Bill.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Antony Morgan have Leave to go into the Country for a Fortnight, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Supply Bill; House Duty

Ordered, That it be an Instruction to the Members of the House, who are to prepare, and bring in, the Bill for laying the Duties upon Dwelling-houses, That the said Duties be collected by the Officers of each Parish and Place.

Shipwrights, &c.

A Petition of the Inhabitants of Rochester, Chatham, and other adjacent Places, in the County of Kent, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That * * * *

That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee, to whom the Petition of the Shipwrights, and Workmen of his Majesty's Yards at Woolwich and Deptford, is referred: And that they do examine the Matter thereof; aud report the same to the House.

Coinage.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the State of the Coin of this Kingdom; and how to prevent the Stop of Commerce during the re-coining the clipped Monies.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Colonel Granville took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Colonel Granville reported from the said Committee, That they had made some Progress in the Matter to them referred; and had directed him to move, That they may have Leave to sit again.

A Motion being made, and the Question being put, That this House do, upon Friday Morning next, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the State of the Coin of this Kingdom; and how to prevent the Stop of Commerce during the recoining the clipped Money;

The House divided.

So it passed in the Negative.
