Prayers.

Dr. South excuses himself from preaching.

MR. Bromley acquainted the House, That he had been with Doctor South, whom he found very ill; and acquainted him with the Desire of this House, That he would preach before them the 30th of January instant: Which the Doctor received with all due Honour, and said, That he was sorry he was not in a Condition to perform his Duty to this House, being in a very ill State of Health; and humbly desired the Excuse of this House.

Dr. Birch to preach.

Ordered, That Doctor Birch be desired to preach before this House, at St. Margarett's Westminster, the 30th of January next: And that Mr. Bromley and Sir Tho. Dyke do acquaint him therewith.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Colonel Praed have Leave to go into the Country, for Recovery of his Health.

Chaplin's Estate.

A Bill for the Sale of the Estate of Susan Chaplin, and Dorothy her Daughter, for Payment of Debts, and makeing a Provision for the said Susan and Dorothy, was read the Second time.

Resolved, That the Bill be committed to Mr. Christy, Mr. Slater, Mr. Hungerford, Sir Edward Hussey, Mr. Waller, Sir Fra. Guibon, Mr. Dryden, Mr. Fenwick, Mr. White, Sir John Knight, Mr. Tankred, Sir Tho. Haslerigg, Sir Edward Windham, Mr. Lutterell, Colonel Perry, Mr. Piggott, Mr. Chadwick, Mr. Bowyer, Mr. Cook, Mr. Hide, Mr. Willmot, Mr. Kenyon, Mr. Arnold, Mr. Greenvill, Mr. Shackerley, Sir Jer. Elwes, Sir John Key, Sir Wm. Cook, Colonel Lee, Mr. Bockenham, Sir Roger Puleston, Mr. Tredenham, Mr. Blofield; and all the Members that serve for the Counties of Huntington, and Cambridge, and Suffolk: And they are to meet this Afternoon, at Four of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber.

A Petition of Edward Pickering Esquire was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That there is a Bill now depending in this House, for selling the Estate of Susan and Dorothy Chaplin: That the Petitioner hath a Mortgage and Statute upon the said Estate for about 3,000 l.: And that, as the said Bill is drawn, the Petitioner's Right is not sufficiently saved: And praying to be heard by Counsel, before the Passing of the said Bill.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee, to whom the said Bill is committed.

Steven's Estate.

Colonel Perry reported from the Committee, to whom the Examination and Consideration of the Petition of Sarah Stevens, on behalf of Henry and William Stevens, Sons of William Stevens, deceased, was referred, That they had examined and considered the Matter of the said Petition; and had come to a Resolution; which they had directed him to report to the House; and which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same was read; and is as followeth; viz.

Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That the House be moved, That Leave may be given to bring in a Bill, according to the Prayer of the said Petition.

Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for Sale of the Estate of the said William Stevens, for Payment of the Mortgage thereupon, and applying the Overplus for the Benefit of his Sons: And that Colonel Perry do prepare, and bring in, the same.

Privilege—Persons reprimanded and discharged.

John Bush, and Tho. Croft, were, according to Order, brought to the Bar: Where, upon their Knees, they received a Reprimand from Mr. Speaker.

Ordered, That the said John Bush, and Tho. Croft, be discharged out of Custody, paying their fees.

Whitley's Estate.

A Bill to enable Roger Whitley Esquire, and Tho. Whitley Esquire, to exchange certain Lands, of equal Value, within the County of Chester, was read the Second time.

Resolved, That the Bill be committed to Mr. Fenwick, Mr. Hutchinson, Mr. Culliford, Mr. Slater, Mr. Lewes, Mr. Arnold, Colonel Lee, Sir Ra. Dutton, Mr. Waller, Mr. England, Sir Jo. Mainwaring, Mr. Christy, Mr. Shackerly, Mr. Butler, Mr. Foley, Sir William Cook, Mr. Price, Mr. Smith, Mr. Waller, Mr. Lutterell, Sir John Bolls, Colonel Perry, Sir Fr. Molyneux, Mr. Bowyer, Mr. Foley; and all the Members that serve for the Counties of Chester and Lancaster: And they are to meet this Afternoon at Four a Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Importing thrown Silk.

The House took into Consideration the Amendment made by the Lords to the Bill intituled, An Act for the Importation of fine Italian, Sicilian, and Naples Thrown Silk.

And the same was read; and is as followeth; viz. Press 2. L. 31. leave out from "notwithstanding," to the End of the Bill.

And the same, being read a Second time, was, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Ordered, That Mr. Chadwick do carry the Bill to the Lords; and acquaint them, That this House hath agreed to the said Amendment.

Cap. Peddar's Letters to be translated.

Ordered, That the Letters transmitted to this House by Captain Peddar be translated: And that Sir Benjamin Newland and Sir Joseph Hern do translate the same, and present the Translations thereof to the House.

Ease of Jurors.

An ingrossed Bill, for the Ease of Jurors who serve at the Assizes in England and Wales, was read the Third time.

And a Debate arising thereupon;

Ordered, That the said Debate be adjourned till this Day Sevennight, after Twelve a Clock.

Impeachment of Lord Coningsby, &c.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, proceeded in the further Consideration of the Articles against the Lord Coningsby, and Sir Charles Porter.

And the Lord Coningsby, and Sir Charles Porter, were severally heard thereupon, in their Places.

And then withdrew.

Resolved, That this House will proceed in the Consideration of the said Articles, Article by Article.

Resolved, That the Debate upon the said Articles be adjourned until Wednesday Morning next.

Ordered, That the Lord Coningsby, and Sir Charles Porter, do take their Places in this House, until the said adjourned Debate be resumed.

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees be adjourned.

And then the House adjourned till Monday Morning, Nine a Clock.
