Duke of Buckingham's Estate.
Ordered, That Sir Rob. Howard, Sir Rich. Temple, Sir William Langham, be added to the Committee to whom the Bill for the better enabling the Trustees of the late Duke of Bucks to sell Lands, to pay his Debts, is referred.
Earl of Radnor's Jointure.
An ingrossed Bill, come down from the Lords, intituled, An Act to enable Charles Bodvile, Earl of Radnor, to make a Jointure to his Wife, and to raise a Sum of Money out of divers Lands and Tenements in the County of Cornwall, was read the First Time.
Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time.
Westminster Paving, &c.
Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for cleansing and paving the Streets in the City and Liberty of Westminster, and Borough of Southwarke, and in the Out Parishes in the County of Middlesex, comprised in the Weekly Bills of Mortality; and for reforming Annoyances and Disorders in the Streets; and for regulating the Haymarkets in the Parishes of St. Martin in the Fields and Whitechapple.
Aulnage Duty.
Ordered, That the Hearing of Counsel, touching the Bill relating to the Aulnage, be adjourned from Tuesday next to Wednesday Morning next.
Supply Bill; late Queen Mary's Estate.
An ingrossed Bill to vest in their present Majesties the Lands and Estate belonging to the late Queen Mary, or to any Persons in Trust for her, was read the Third time.
An ingrossed Clause was offered, as a Rider, to be added to the Bill, for a general Saving of the Rights of all other Persons, besides the late Queen and her Trustees; and was twice read, and amended at the Table; and then read a Third time; and upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House to be made Part of the Bill.
And another ingrossed Proviso was offered, as a Rider, to be added to the Bill to confirm certain Contracts made in June 1688, between the said Trustees, and several Tenants of the Manor of Dauntsey in the County of Wilts; and was twice read; and amended at the Table; and then read a Third time; and, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House to be made part of the Bill.
Another ingrossed Clause was offered, as a Rider, to be added to the Bill, That out of the Arrears of Rents, due for the said Lands before the Eleventh of December 1688, the Sum of Five thousand One hundred Pounds should be applied to the Payment of the Debts due by the late Queen to several Tradesmen; and was upon the Question put thereupon, twice read, and amended at the Table; and then read a Third time; and, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House to be made Part of the Bill: Line *.
Another ingrossed Clause was offered, as a Rider, to be added to the Bill, for saving the Right of John Danvers, Esquire, to the Manors of Dauntsey and Southcotes in the County of Wilts; and was thrice read; and, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House to be made Part of the Bill.
Resolved, That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act to vest in their present Majesties the Lands and Estate belonging to the late Queen Mary, or to any other Person in Trust for her.
Ordered, That Mr. Solicitor General do carry the Bill to the Lords; and desire their Concurrence thereunto.
Answer to Address.
Mr. Comptroller acquaints the House, that his Majesty had been attended with the Address of this House, for appointing another Sheriff for the County of Yorke, in the room of Sir Jonathan Jennings: And that his Majesty had been graciously pleased to appoint Sir Christopher Warnsford to be Sheriff of the said County for this present Year.
Swaine's Complaint.
A Petition of Robert Swaine was read; setting forth, That, having discovered divers Practices against the Government, . . acquainted Owen Wynn, Esquire, with the same: Who slighting it, the Petitioner, with others, endeavoured to make it known: And a Committee of this House was appointed to examine them: For which the said Wynn arrested the Petitioner in an Action of Two hundred Pounds; to which the Petitioner gave Bail; but was last Night committed to Newgate by Justice James, by the Instigation of Mr. Wynn: And praying he may be released out of Prison, to produce his Witnesses against Monday, as the Committee did determine it.
Ordered, That the Committee to whom the Petition of Capell, and others, was referred, do sit this Afternoon: And that they do examine the Matter of this last Petition; and report the same to the House: And that the Keeper of the Prison of Newgate do attend the said Committee with the Mittimus, by which the said Swayne was committed to Newgate.
Members Protections.
The House being informed, that the Under Sheriff of Middlesex, and Secondaries of the Computers of London, attended at the Door, with an Account of the Protections entered in their respective Offices, according to the Order of the House;
They were called in; and delivered in their several Lists; which were read: And it thereby appearing, That a Protection was entered for one Samuell Parker, under the Name of Thomas Wharton, Esquire;
And Mr. Wharton being present in the House, and declaring, That he knew not any such Person, nor had ever granted any such Protection;
It was Ordered, That the said Samuell Parker be sent for, in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House; to answer his Contempt in counterfeiting a Protection from the Honourable Thomas Wharton, Esquire, a Member of this House.
Resolved, That the House do, upon Thursday Morning next, take into further Consideration the Matter of Granting of Protections.
London Orphans.
Resolved, That the House do, upon Wednesday Morning next, resolve into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed in the further Consideration of the Ways to satisfy the Debts due to the Orphans of the City of London.
