Leave of Absence.

ORDERED, That Sir Nevill Catelyn have Leave to go into the Country for a Fortnight.

Ordered, That Sir Wm. Whitmore have Leave to go into the Country for a Month.

Ordered, That Mr. Eldred have Leave to go into the Country for a Fortnight.

Ordered, That Colonel Norton have Leave to go into the Country for a Month.

Supply Bill; Land Tax.

Then the House proceeded in the further Consideration of the Report of the Bill for granting to their Majesties an Aid of Two Shillings in the Pound, for One Year.

And several other of the Amendments were severally read a Second time; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Clause (C), for exempting the Quakers from the double Tax, upon their making and subscribing a Declaration of Fidelity to their Majesties, being read a Second time;

And the Question being put, That the House do agree with the Committee therein;

The House divided.

So it was resolved in the Affirmative.

Then the Residue of the Amendments to the Bill, being severally read a Second time, were, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Resolved, That a Clause be brought into the Bill, to appropriate some Part of the Money given by the said Bill for the paying the Seamen, and providing Victuals and Stores for the Navy.

Ordered, That it be recommended to Mr. Sacheverell, and Mr. Solicitor General, to prepare and bring in such a Clause upon Monday Morning next.

A Proviso was offered to be made Part of the Bill, That all Merchandize on board English Ships outwardbound, and which shall be detained on Ship-board for Want of Convoys, shall not be assessed to this Tax: Which was twice read, and, after an Amendment made therein at the Table, was, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Another Clause was offered to be made Part of the Bill, That Mortgagers may deduct the Tax for Money upon Mortgages: which was once read:

And the Question being put, That the same be read a Second time;

It passed in the Negative.

Another Proviso was offered to be made Part of the Bill, That all Persons whose Estates in the Whole did not amount to Twenty Shillings by the Year, should not be assessed to this Tax: Which was twice read; and, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House;

Another Proviso was offered to be made Part of the Bill, That the Officers of the Court of Chancery shall be taxed within the Liberty of the Rolls, and not elsewhere: Which was twice read; and, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

And there being other Clauses offered to be added to the Bill;

Ordered, That the further Consideration of the House, upon the said Bill, be adjourned until Monday Morning next, at Ten of the Clock.

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees be adjourned.

And then the House adjourned till Monday Morning, Nine of the Clock.
