Prayers.

Duke of Buckingham's Estate.

A PETITION of several of the Creditors of George late Duke of Buckingham, deceased, was read; setting forth, That, without the Assistance of this House, they are likely to be deprived of their just Debts owing to them from the said Duke: And therefore praying they may have Leave to bring in a Bill for settling the said Duke's Estate on Trustees, for Payment of his Debts.

Ordered, That the said Petition do lie upon the Table.

Legrand's, &c. Nat.

A . . . for Naturalizing of David Legrand, and others, was read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time.

Privilege.

A Complaint being made, That Joseph Turner, Thomas Burridge, John Ransome, Robert Edwards, and John Henshaw, had entered into the House of Sir Richard Middleton, a Member of this House, under Pretence of a general Warrant for searching for Arms; notwithstanding they were informed, That the said Sir Richard Middleton was a Member of this House, in Breach of the Privilege of this House;

Ordered, That the said Joseph Turner, Thomas Burridge, John Ransome, Robert Edwards, and John Henshawe, be sent for in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms; to answer their Breach of Privilege of this House.

Watt's Nat.

Mr. Christy reports from the Committee to whom the Bill, from the Lords, intituled, An Act for the naturalizing William Watts, was referred, That the Committee did not think fit to make any Amendment thereof; and had so directed him to report to the House.

The Bill was read the Third time.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass.

Ordered, That Mr. Christy do carry the Bill to the Lords; and acquaint them with the Concurrence of this House thereunto, without any Amendment.

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees be revived.

Irish Refugees.

Ordered, That Sir Rich. Onslow, and Mr. Tichburne, be added to the Committee, to whom it was referred to consider, What of the Irish Nobility and Gentry were fit to receive his Majesty's Bounty.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Christopher Wilkinson have Leave to be absent from this House for a Month, for Recovery of his Health.

Privilege of a Member in a Suit.

Ordered, That Mr. Weld, a Member of this House, have Leave to wave his Privilege in a Suit in Chancery, between Sam. Langley, Gentleman, Complainant, and the said Mr. Weld, and others, Defendants; if he shall think fit so to do.

State of the Nation.

Then the House resolved into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed in the further Consideration of the State of the Nation.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Mr. Grey took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Victualling the Navy.

The House being acquainted with a Letter come from Plymouth, to one Rice, from his Son there, giving an Account of great Abuses discovered in the Victuals and Beer provided for the Fleet lying there, and ready to go forth;

The said Rice was called in to the Bar, to own the said Letter: And he owned the Receipt of the said Letter, accordingly.

And the House being likewise informed, that great Quantities of corrupt and unwholesome Victuals had been furnished to the Navy this last Summer; which had been the Occasion, as was conceived, of great Sickness and Mortality in the Fleet;

And the same being attested by several Members of the House;

Commissioners ordered into Custody.

Resolved, That Sir John Parsons, who was one of the Victuallers of the Navy for this last Summer, be sent for in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House.

Ordered, That Sir Rich. Haddock, one other of the Victuallers of the Navy for this last Summer, be sent for in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House.

Ordered, That Alderman Sturt, one other of the Victuallers of the Navy for this last Summer, be sent for in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House.

Ordered, That Mr. Nicholas Fenne, one other of the Victuallers of the Navy for this last Summer, be sent for in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House.
