Tenures.

Mr. Recorder reporteth the Committee for Tenures.

- Before Easter, only free and common Soccage left. - 100,000l. per Annum,

Honour and Profit: - Honour he would reserve. -

Knights Service to his Person. - They that held of Manors, to hold so still: - They that in Knights Service, to hold now in Soccage in chief. -

All Matters incident to be taken off, may safely by Act of Parliament. -

To desire a Conference; and to let them know, we are resolved we may proceed notwithstanding. -

The Judges, upon Consultation, to be named in the Act, and the King's Counsel - to all Posterity.

Ecclesiastical Grievances.

Sir Edwyn Sandys reporteth the first Part of the Grievances touching ecclesiastical Matters. -

Not executing the Laws against Recusants : Silenced Ministers : Pluralities and Non-residents: Abuse of Excommunication.

Not executing the Laws, - 1. read by the Clerk.

Sir Edwyn Sandys offereth an Addition to the first: -

Readeth it himself. - Referred to the Committee.

The first, put to Question, passed the Voice. Sir John Parker giveth a No, and the House admitted him to give a Reason of his No. - A rare Precedent.

Mr. Brook : - That the Ministers are not silenced for not subscribing according to the Canons, but by the Statutes of 1. 13 Eliz.

Sir Wm. Cope: - This Book of Common Prayer not confirmed by Parliament.

Mr. Fuller, - for the Grievance.

Mr. May, - against it, as a publick Grievance; but to be done by way of Petition.
