Grievances.

Mr. Snelling : - To have Thursday Afternoon appointed for the Committee of Grievances to sit, to hear the Cause of Wintertonnesse Light, and the Survey of Coals. -

Ordered. And the Committee of Trade to sit in the Exchequer Chamber.

Bargrave's Petition.

A Petition read, of Doctor Bargrave, to have a Day assigned for the Hearing of his Brother's Cause.

Resolved, It shall hold the Day assigned formerly.

The Party that gave Warning to Sir Will. Somervile's Brothers to be here To-morrow Morning, to acquaint the House with the Manner of it.

Grievances. - Sir S. Harvey.

Sir Edw. Cooke reports from the Committee of Grievances concerning Sir Simon Harvy, - Ingenii dominus, plerumque peccati servus. - First of all he made Warrants for Malt, without Warrant or Commission. This a high Offence. 2. One Quested, a Fishmonger of London : Of this Man Sir Simon Harvey took 50 Lings for Composition, and after 1400 more he marked: When all brought to London, then he took all 2800 ; and long, before he could have any Satisfaction. 3. For Carriages : Some Counties have compounded; the Burthen laid upon those that have not compounded ; and the other spared. His Drift was to make all Counties compound. 4. His Lieger de maine. - Jacob, Purveyor for the King's Wines, was willing to be rid of it : Had Communication with one Liechland: Entered into Articles. Harvy he came, and said he would have his Name used in it, because Clerk Comptroller. - Accipe nunc Harveis insidia, et crimine ab uno disce omnes. - Harvy, after he got the Indentures, he squeezed 530 l. out of Liechland - Infinite Complaints of Harvy. Before he came in the Composition Money well paid ; now not so. All Countries complain. - Pretended to save the King 8000 l. per Annum: And whereas the Houshold was wont to be provided with divers Provisions aforehand ; as 200 Oxen, 2000 Sheep, 500 Quarters of Malt; now all bought from Hand to Mouth, and all the Stores gone; so that 20,000l. will not set the House in that State it was, again.

Mr. Treasurer : - Sorry, this Man hath troubled this House so much. The sole Managing of the Affairs of the King's House committed to him. Upon his Pretence of savingthe King 8000 l. per Annum, the Lord Treasurer cut off so much. - If it may please this House to remand him to the supreme Officers of the Houshold. -

Resolved, Upon Question, That these Abuses of Sir Simon Harvy shall be reduced into Form and Writing, and presented to the King, among the Grievances.

Mr. Mallory: - To have a Time appointed, to reduce Grievances, all the Grievances into a parliamentary Form.

Sir Edw. Cooke, Sir Edw. Sandys, Sir Fran. Seymour, Impositions. Sir Tho. Hoby, Mr. Noy, Sir Rob. Philips, Mr. Solicitor, to take into Consideration the Claim of the Subject against Impositions.

Sir Rob. Philips: - To have those Two Gentlemen, that presented the Charge of the Lord Treasurer, to set them down in a parliamentary Manner, to be kept as a Record in this House. - Ordered.

Sir Edw. Cooke, and Sir Edwyn Sandys to do it, with as much Speed as may be.
