2. Reading: - Fens, - little Bill: Committed, - this Afternoon, before the Calling, to the former Committee for Fens.

Holdiche's Relief.

All the Letters of the Judges, and Lords Committees, in Holdiche's Case, read: The Bill opened by Mr. Speaker; and some Arguments to and fro, touching the Proof of the Promise. It was at last, upon Sir John Heigham's Motion, ordered, that Mr. Speaker should write, in the Name of the House, to the Tenants to draw them to a Composition.

Private Acts.

Sir Edwyn Sandys moveth, touching the Mischief of the Law in Private Bills. - When there is an Act passed, in the Body, to the Settling of any Estate, in the Body, and that a Saving cometh after, which doth not help. -

Preferreth a Bill, to help it, intituled. An Act to avoid Fraud, and Wrong-doing, in private Acts of Parliament: Which was firstly read.

Smyth's Nat.

Sir Chro. Perkins reporteth the Bill for the Naturalizing of Fabian Smyth; and thought fit to pass by the Committees ; but not read thirdly.

Injuries from Spaniards.

Motion, touching sending an Answer to the Lords, and the Petitions of Spanish Wrongs. Disputed, whether we should send the Reasons for Letters of Mart, or the Petition alone.

Sir Edwyn Sandys: - The Petition alone.

Mr. Carleton: The Petition alone.

The Reasons for Letters of Mart, being referred unto by the Petition, to be joined, and sent up with the Petition : - Mr. Speaker's Opinion. -

Message from Lords.

Message : - The Lords, having that great important Bill, &c. have given it Two Readings, and, according to the Weightiness of the Matter, have committed it to a great Committee: The Committee have conceived Doubt, and think fit, a Conference in the Bill: And therefore they move, that the Committees may meet this Afternoon, or Thursday: The Place, the Painted Chamber : Number 50.

Answ. That they will be ready to confer on Thursday, with 100, in the Painted Chamber.

Sir Edwyn Sandys moveth for Direction in the Matter of Delivery of the Petition. -

That we conceive, that the same Petition had been delivered to themselves; yet, because it was their Lordships Pleasure to have it, we delivered it. -

That we can make no perfect Judgment, because we have no Power to call the other Party; and that therefore we think it more proper for their Lordships, and do refer it unto them.
