9. S. de Medina to the Lord High Treasurer. Prays an order for the payment of the balance of his account, to prevent the ruin that threatened him. His losses in the year 1709 amounted to 80,000l., which broke his back. By some mischance he did not receive 240,000 guilders left in Mr Sweet's hands, and this had only lately been brought to light by Mr Auditor Harley. All his valuable goods in the Hague had been taken in execution, and he was not safe to show his face in London. Dated 4 Xber 1712. 1 page.

Dated 17 Aug. 1703. With a note at the foot that the society had notified the death of M. L'Estang and desired M. Jacob de Blagny might receive the pension. 1 page.

Report of the Auditor (Harley) to the Lord High Treasurer on the petition of the Deputy Chamberlains. 2s in every 1,000l. had been usually allowed for joining tallies, &c., and there had been paid into the receipt of the Exchequer 1,208,292l. 13s. 5d., on which 120l. 16s. 7d. were due. Dated 8 Dec. 1712.

18. Report of Sir W. Wyndham to the Lord High Treasurer on a memorial of Lieut.-General Seymour, praying for payment of 800l. for “trophy money,” for the Queen's own regiment of foot, from the beginning of the reign. In the year 1702 the office of Great Wardrobe delivered for the use of the regiment 12 colours, with ensign, stave, &c. At the Union there was a warrant for a new set of colours, and there was a warrant for two years' trophy money to General Webb on 7 Aug. last. Dated Whitehall, 8 Dec. 1712.

19. Report of Lord Ormond to the Lord High Treasurer. Dr Richard Stevens, an eminent physician of Dublin, had bequeathed an estate of about 600l. per ann. to erect and endow a hospital in that city. Had been applied to by the trustees for putting the will into execution, to procure from her Majesty the grant of a small spot of ground belonging to her Majesty in Phœnix Park, which ground Thomas Proby, a trustee, held by lease, and was willing to give up for that purpose. Sending his lordship the petition to be laid before her Majesty. As this was the first benefaction of the kind given in Ireland, and would be a very great benefit for the poor, and an ornament to the city, it would be an act of grace to confer the same. Dated London, 8 Dec. 1712.

Luke Lillingston to William Lowndes, Esq., concerning 159l. due to him upon the 200l. per ann. allowed to him until otherwise provided for, and concerning 57l. 10s. 8d. charged on him for the fortifying of Roscrae about 22 years since. The workmen were paid the full sum, and worked very hard, for the horse and men quartered there expected to be surprised and taken prisoners, or to be destroyed by the enemy and “rapparees.” If he must repay the money, would pay it out of the 159l. if ordered. 25. Memorial of Sir W. Wyndham to the Lord High Treasurer, relating to the forces at Port Mahon. Annexed a state of the five regiments of Phillips, Royal Fusileers, Whetham, Elliott, and Molesworth, in the Island of Minorca. Had already proposed to reduce the said regiments as well as all others in her Majesty's service to the lowest establishment of 725 men and officers in a regiment, equal to those now in Britain. If his Lp approved the scheme there would be 1,965 supernumeraries, who would form three more regiments and leave about 300 men for recruits for Minorca. Dated Whitehall, 19 Dec. 1712.
