1679. March 31.	Indenture between the King of the one part and Thomas Robson, gent., of the other part nominating and constituting said Robson to be Clerk and Paymaster of the bills of imposts upon wines: for life, loco Samuel Maydwell thereto appointed by the like indenture dated 1673, December 18, said Maydwell having surrendered same to his Majesty. The said Robson hereby undertakes on behalf of the King to pay divers sums to such noblemen and others as shall be allowed French and Rhenish wines free of impost; for which purpose the King grants to said Robson an annuity or yearly sum of 3,675l. for life to be paid to him every Christmas without any account whatsoever: in consideration whereof said Robson covenants that he will every year from time to time during his life upon the receipt of Treasury warrants for the discharge of imposts of the said kinds of wines (not exceeding in the whole 1,750 tuns per an, for the yearly expense and provisions of the Lords of the Council and of ambassadors, noblemen, gentlemen and such others as shall be thought meet) pay or allow for the same after the rate of 42s. per tun: the said Robson deducting 3s. per tun thereof as usually heretofore has been paid and allowed for same.
