out of the three weeks' [Navy] money, to be [by the Lord
Treasurer] made good to you to pay up the Navy to June 24 last.

Warrant from Treasurer Danby to Robert Culliford,
Adam de Cardonell and Mr. Rought, officers of Southampton
port. By Act of Parliament as well as by special grant
contained in the charter and privileges of the inhabitants of
Guernsey, they have liberty to transport yearly. Customs free,
out of England certain quantities of combed and uncombed
wool and other commodities for the service of the said island,
It appears by certificate of said Cardonell, Customer of
Southampton, that there remains unshipped from Southampton
port for several merchants, inhabitants of Guernsey, upon
the allowance for the years 1671-2-3, 679 todds of wool.
You are to permit the transport of this quantity. Customs
free, from Southampton over and above the quantity allowed
for the current year on the delivery of such writing under the
seal of the Governor of Guernsey as is required by the Act of
12 Car. II. for exportation of wool.

Treasurer Danby to the Judges of Assize for the Northern
Circuit concerning popular opposition to the Excise, ut supra,
p. 781-2, and particularly that in co. Norfolk two Justices before
whom an information was brought against a brewer for
erecting and using two private and concealed Goyle Tunns and
a private storehouse without notice given to the Excise officers,
have mitigated the penalties thereon from 150l. to 20s.,
whereby offenders in the like are encouraged and the Excise
statutes wholly eluded. This has been referred to me from
the Privy Council and I desire you in your charge at the
several Assizes, and especially in Norfolk to take special notice
of these miscarriages and to charge the Grand Juries to enquire
of all riotous and unlawful assemblies and to intimate to the
Justices of Peace in the several counties that although His
Majesty will for the present pass by the miscarriage of the
said two Justices he will expect for the future the laws to be
effectually executed.
