Same from same to Sir William Jones, Attorney General.
Several informations are exhibited in the Exchequer against
Richard Streamer, Robert Yate, Thomas Earle, Robert
Vickers, John Luffe, Charles Williams, James Whitwood,
John Draper, Thomas Fisher, Joseph Adlam, Nehemiah Webb,
Richard Marsh, William Jackson, Thomas Scroope, George Lane,
James Twyford, Henry Gibbs, William Hammond, Edward
Fielding and Thomas Moore (More), merchants of Bristol,
for not paying the full duty on corn imported into Bristol, as
by the Act of Tillage : it being alleged in the said information
that the price of wheat at the time of such importation was
under 10s. the bushel. I am satisfied by certificates of worthy
persons of Bristol, &c., and by the information of several
members of Parliament that at the time of the said importation,
and for many months before, the price of wheat there and
in the adjacent markets exceeded 10s. the bushel and that the
said importation was of much advantage to the country. You
are therefore to stay proceedings in the said informations
till further order.

agent, refused to give said Worth a discharge and brought
actions against him and four other officers of the port. The

to be at liberty to proceed upon his information.

Warrant from Treasurer Danby to Sir William Jones, Attorney
General, to enter a noli prosequi to the information exhibited in
Easter term, 23 Car. II., in the Exchequer by George Hussey
against Durant Jenkinson, merchant, for supposed undue
entries: to which information the then Attorney General (now
Lord Keeper) caused a noli prosequi to be entered upon record,
and the said Hussey afterwards (in Michaelmas term 23 Car.
II.) exhibited another information against said Jenkinson for
the same matters contained in the first with the addition only
of some bales of lamb skins, kid skins and French wines, which
said goods appear to be the proper goods of said Jenkinson
and not the goods of merchant aliens, as is suggested in
said information : further, the said George Hussey being
dead.

Warrants from Treasurer Danby to Richard Mounteney, Customs
Cashier, and to the Auditors of Imprests. The Treasury
Lords in the Customs establishment appointed Christopher
Hawks to be paymaster of incidents in London. The Customs
Commissioners during the first two years of their being
Commissioners directed said Mounteney to imprest several
sums of money, amounting to 15,000l. 1s. 1d. (viz. in the
first year 8,100l. 1s. 1d. and in the second year 6,900l.), to
said Hawks "for the issuing out the said moneys to the
particular persons concerned to have the same." By
Mounteney's passing his accounts the said sum is set in super
on said Hawks, who is thus made an accomptant in the
Exchequer. This was not intended by the letters patent
to the said Commissioners or to the said Cashier General, but
that the said moneys should have been paid by said Cashier
General immediately to the parties concerned and accompted
for as the rest of the moneys of the Customs are. Said
Commissioners have therefore since directed their warrants to
Mounteney to pay all such moneys to the particular parties
themselves and have altered the directions of the warrant for
the said two years, viz. from Hawkes to Mounteney. Said
Mounteney is therefore in his third year's account to charge
himself with said sums and to apply the warrants of said
Commissioners, as now amended, for his discharge.
