Money warrant for 1,386l. 19s. 8½d. to Charles, Earl of Sunderland, President of the Privy Council, to wit 136l. 19s. 8½d. for ten days March 16 last (the day he was sworn as President of the Privy Council) to March 25 last, and 1,250l. for June 24 quarter on his several allowances of 1,000l. per an. in lieu of an allowance of ten dishes every meal formerly made to the President of the Privy Council, and 500l. per an. as of his Majesty's grace and bounty and on 3,500l. per an. allowance which his Majesty is pleased to make him for the better support of the honour and dignity of his said office. Prefixing: letter from Secretary Holles Newcastle [Duke of Newcastle-upon-Tyne] dated 19 June 1718. The King has commanded the following necessaries to be made in the Duke of Roxburgh's Office in the Cockpit, viz. the Great Room to be wainscotted with seats for the clerks, six presses for books, the Office to be whitewashed and painted and several pieces of wainscot and shelves made good in the other rooms.
