Auditor's Memorandum.—Moses Beranger of London, merchant, hath received 1,600 tons of Tin as a collateral security for 100,000l. lent by him and is accountable for what the said Tin shall produce above the Principal and Interest of the said sum; but he appears to have rendered no Accompt of such produce.
Further Memorandum.—2,664 blocks of Tin, weighing 8,000 cwt. 1 qr. hath been consigned to Sir Theodore Jansen and shipped to Holland as security for 34,000l. advanced by him; but no Accompt hath yet been rendered.
Declared 23 July 1728.
Audit Office, Bundle 1668, Roll 484 [A.O.1/1668/484] is a parchment Roll containing an earlier version of this Accompt; this was exhibited to the Auditor by Joseph Nicoll, Executor of the Accomptant, but ‘made up and passed without the Oath of the Accomptants' Executor, who did not prosecute the passing thereof’. On the first membrane the date of Declaration is left blank: on the foot of the Accompt this is given as 9 March 1724–25 but the signatures, if there were any, have been cut out. By the omissions of certain items the Charge is reduced to 88,876l. 17s. 8d. and the Discharge to 86,289l. 3s. 2d., leaving the Accomptant Indebted 2,587l. 14s. 6b.
