Victualler of the Garrison of Annapolis Royal in Nova Scotia and did advance and pay to the Officers of said Garrison, on account of themselves and their respective detachments, several sums of money amounting in all to 929l. 10s. 11d. as by the account annexed [missing], “and [as by] their several bills for the same ordering payment out of their first pay”: that Mr. Lynn and Mr. Gordon, late Agents for the said Garrison, acknowledge to have several sums of money in their hands belonging to the said Officers, but refuse to pay same to petitioner until they have a warrant for so doing: therefore prays a warrant to said Lynn and Gordon to pay to petitioner what money remains in their hands towards his reimbursement of what will appear justly due by the said bills; also to be paid out of the subsistence of the said Officers what shall appear due from time to time until the whole debt be fully paid and satisfied. Prefixing: report by said Commissioners dated April 30 last on the petition of Aaron Austell of London, merchant, concerning the money due on his tobacco bonds. We reported Nov. 22 last on a former petition from him. The bonds in question which are under prosecution in the Exchequer amount to 551l. 7s. 5d. We then reported that if your Lordships think fit to grant him liberty to apply to Parliament for relief we do not object provided he deposit the said amount in the hands of the Receiver General and Cashier of

J. Taylour to the Lord Chief Baron of the Exchequer of Scotland. I have read to the Treasury Lords the report of you and the Barons of the Exchequer of Scotland on the memorial of James Johnston for payment of the remainder of 4,000l. granted to him by privy seal of Wm. III. (out of fines on leases of tithes of the late bishoprics in
Scotland), [which grant was] afterwards confirmed by Queen Anne by privy seal. You think it reasonable that he should be satisfied said remainder either by renewing his gift or by advancing to him said remainder “which might put the said Duties into a better and less expensive way of management.” My Lords cannot but be of opinion that the said revenue may be much better managed and at a far less expense than by your report it seems to have been hitherto, and do therefore desire that your Lordship and the rest of the Barons will consider the matter and propose what rules, methods or directions you shall judge necessary as well for the more speedy paying off the remainder of the said 4,000l.
