respits of 37l. 8s. 4d. and 81l. 6s. 0d. on Col. Hamilton's Regiment.
Appending : report by the Comptrollers of Army Accounts on the
petition of the late Lord Lucas and on the petition of Col. Hans
Hamilton on behalf of the Officers of the Regiment now under said
Hamilton. The respite of 81l. 6s. 0d. on the servants of the several
Officers is contrary to the practice of the Army, as the Officers
appeared at the respective musters. The respite of 37l. 0s. 8d.
represents the difference between the Paymaster's roll and those
sent to us and is occasioned only by filling up the docquet to the
prejudice of Capt. Spragg and Capt. Statham. It may be allowed.
"But in regard the Officer of any Troop or Company commanding
in chief is by law to sign the muster roll we humbly offer it as a rule
for the future that no such Officer ought to complain of any injury
done to him in a muster roll which he himself hath subscribed."
Treasurer Godolphin's decisions on this report are written in the
margin. The first marginal note is as follows "Mr. St. John to inquire
of the Commissary to show why he made these respits and if no cause
be shewn, the respits [are] to be taken off." Ibid., pp. 105-6.

Same to the Navy Commissioners. The Lord Treasurer has
considered the Excise Commissioners' report concerning bills drawn
on the Navy Treasurer by Lords Lieutenants for sums drawn for
conduct and impress moneys that are not properly vouched as is
required by the Comptroller of the Navy, although really advanced
and paid by the Excise collectors, amounting to 372l. 19s. 6d. He
thinks same ought to be satisfied. Please make forth bills according
to the method of your Office for paying same.

has not been complied with : therefore praying delivery of said
