and orders of loan drawn on the last part of the 3700l. per week [Excise] ;
of which tallies and orders for 20,000l. the sum of 10,500l. was assigned
over by him to those uses according to orders from the Navy Board
"the interest at the time of assigning the same being computed and

in his hands and are now come in course of payment out of the said

Warrant by Treasurer Godolphin to the Principal Commissioners
for Prizes to pay Capt. William Scaley as a Captain out of the Vigo
prize money, he being by commission Captain of her Majesty's
fireship Griffin and by a former commission had taken post as a
Captain in the Royal Navy and it was only by mistake that he was
inserted as Captain and Master of the said ship in the list for the
distribution of the said prize money. The error in his denomination
in the said list is hereby to be corrected.
A like warrant in the case of Capt. John Mitchell, late Captain of
her Majesty's fireship Phoenix and now Commander of the Weymouth,
he being inserted in the abovesaid list only as Master and Commander.

The Lord Treasurer has appointed William Clayton to pay the
premium or reward of 5 per cent. per an. to the contributors on the

Exchequer : viz. from the days of advancing their moneys to May 1
next. His lordship is informed that it will be difficult to pay the said
premium in the office of the Auditor [of the Receipt] by reason of
the great number of people concerned in receiving the same, and
that the Office for Circulating Exchequer Bills is not at present
in much use. He therefore directs you to permit Mr. Clayton to
perform this service in some of the rooms belonging to your Office.

1703 (at which time she went to the West Indies) till her return to
London "it being the freight of all ships now taken up into her

William Lowndes to the Surveyor General of Crown Lands to
report on the enclosed petition [missing] of James Grahme for a
lease of some lands near Aulkborough [Alkborough] co. Lincoln
left by the sea and of right belonging to the Crown, with the Attorney
and Solicitor General's report thereon, and the copy of an inquisition
thereon. The Lord Treasurer does not think it advisable to grant
the desired lease without further information. You are to certify
the value and improveability and whether such a lease is like to

Same to the Excise Commissioners. My Lord agrees with your
report of Jan. 13 last on the petition of Mary Martin, widow of Henry
Martin, late a collector of Excise. You are to proceed to recover

of the Regiment under his command, the same being respited by
reason of the death of the said Lieut. Colonel in the middle of the
muster and the absence of the other two upon leave upon the service
of the Regiment, according to a report from the Comptrollers of
