Treasury reference to the Surveyor General of Crown Lands of the petition of Thomas Johnson shewing that his father purchased the manor, park and demesnes of Liskeard in 1651 but same is now held by petitioner only by lease for 3 lives; but under Charles II's promise to his father that he should not be a loser, the rents and profits of the manor are paid to said Johnson and his heirs by several Treasury warrants: therefore praying a continuation of same. Royal warrant to the Earl of Ranelagh to issue half pay to the officers of Col. Henry Holt's Regiment who were in the muster rolls at the time of the reduction of the said Regiment: the late King William having in April 1695 ordered Col. Christopher Codrington, Governor of the Leeward Islands, to reduce the said Regiment from 13 Companies to 5 Companies and by royal warrant of 12 April 1695 directed the issue of half pay to the Officers so reduced from 1 May 1695: but the order for the said reduction not arriving in the Leeward Islands till the latter end of October following the reduction could not be completed before 1st November 1695: and so by warrant of 6 May 1701 the Regiment was ordered to be allowed as full to 1st Nov. 1695 and by the death of many Officers and the delay &c. the reduced Officers were eventually only 5 Captains, one Adjutant, one Lieutenant and 6 Ensigns who happened not to be the same as those named [specified] in the former warrant for half pay: [hence the necessity for this present warrant].
