the Mine Adventurers who pray that for the encouraging of the
extracting of silver out of the mines in Wales the Master of the
Mint may be directed to coin such silver with the arms of Wales
in like manner as was heretofore done. |

Hereon the [Principal] Officers of the Mint have reported that in
the reign of Charles I silver extracted out of lead mines in Wales was
coined with the Prince's arms set on the reverse of the coin and the
Master of the Mint has been authorised to set a particular mark upon
money coined out of certain sorts of bullion [such] as an elephant upon
the gold and silver imported by the Africa Company. They therefore
favour the petition. For securing the credit of the Mint and of the
moneys so coined they think the Master be not obliged to coin a
greater quantity of silver with the arms of Wales that shall appear
to have been so extracted out of Welsh lead ores and for the said
