Lonsdale during pleasure the custody of the Privy Seal as amply &c. as Henry, late Earl of Bath, Henry late Earl of Manchester, John Lord Robartes, Arthur Earl of Anglesey, George Marquess of Halifax, Henry Earl of Clarendon, Thomas Earl of Pembroke and Montgomery or any other predecessors therein: with the annual fee of 365l. out of the Customs of London as from 1699 May 19. Kinmare had power by settlement made in 1684 to charge his estate for daughters' fortune and pursuant thereto did by his last will charge same with 3000l. for his daughter Elissa, petitioner's wife: as appears by reports of Henry, Lord Capell late Lord Deputy: further the said Viscount's estate having been granted to the Earl of Bellomont by patent of—29 in the 8th year of our reign: and further certain provision having been made for Hellen, wife of Sir Nicholas Browne, March 8 last, out of the same estates ut supra p. 297. Same to same for a patent under the great seal of Ireland for a grant to Richard, Earl of Ranelagh of a yearly pension or annuity of 300l. out of the Exchequer [Ireland] for 21 years from March 25 last: all by reason that Charles II granted him the like pension in 1671 for life, which in 1677, being very indisposed, he petitioned to surrender to Adam Loftus and Lemuell Kingdon in trust for him and his assigns "that so in case of his death the benefit of the said yearly pension might have accrued to his family during the lives of the said two trustees: which petition was granted by Charles II by patent of 1677 May 30 and by royal sign manual of 1684 Aug. 24 Charles II promised the due payment thereof as one of the conditions upon which said Earl surrendered the patent of Vice Treasurer of Ireland: that thereupon he received said pension till 1691 Dec. 29 but the two trustees being dead he has received no part thereof since. Kensington Royal warrant to same for a patent to pass the great seal of Ireland for a grant to Thomas Ashe of Dublin of the King's title to the moiety of the manor of Moone in the Barony of Kilkea and Moone Co. Kildare claimed by the Crown by the attainder of James Dempsey: to hold as of the Castle of Dublin in free and common socage: he having purchased said moiety for 1000l. from Honora Dempsey (widow of said James) and Thomas Dempsey (son of said James); and the said lands by the [? eventual] death of said Honora descended [? would descend] to said Thomas with remainders to John, Charles and Nicholas Dempsey and under the said reversions there is a fee simple left in said James who is outlawed for high treason; by reason whereof the said Ashe is advised that his purchase may be insecure as the said James's fee simple may by said attainder come [eventually] in the Crown; and it further appearing that the said Ashe is a known Protestant and on that account did suffer in the late times and was well affected to the King and Government. Clare of the late Visct. Clare is charged with the quit rent of 457l. 17s. 7¾d. which exceeds by 404l. 17s. 10¾d. the reduced rent of 53l. 19s. 9d. due and payable only for that part of the said estate which lies in Co. Clare; and similarly that the estate of Redmond and Hugh Mullady is charged with the quit rent of 54l. 9s. 11d. though their whole estate in Co. Westmeath (part whereof is already granted to Thomas Keightley Esq. and part to Sir Thomas Domville) was only charged at the time of its forfeiture with the yearly Crown rent of 10s.: by all which the said Earl is deprived of the King's grace and favoured intended to him in the said patent. Royal warrant to same to pay the further sum of 500l. to Tregonwell Frampton to complete 1000l. intended by the King's letter of 1698 April 4 as in lieu of the benefit which the King intended him by the royal warrant of 1696 April 22 which directed a grant to William Watson in trust for said Frampton of the forfeited estates of David Nagle and Peirce Nagle; the said Frampton having represented about a year since that he had not then proceeded further in the said grant, whereupon the King condescended to the said 1000l. benefit in lieu thereof as above.
