600,000l.] as any person will make upon the Exchequer in General
pursuant to the [House of Commons Credit] Vote of yesterday's date. |

The Customs Commissions and Mr. Heysham [are called in] with Mr.
Knight about the payment of debentures for Impost [drawbacks] out of
the Customs. My Lords are of opinion that the debentures ought to
be paid as desired. |

Mr. Holt is called in; his warrant is settled and my Lords recommend to him to employ the present clerks and to allow them suitable
encouragement; [and they impress upon him] particularly that Mr.
Pope do find his account in it. |

The [Principal] Officers of the Ordnance are called in. They demand
money for the [artillery] Train in Flanders. My Lords recommend
it to them to procure money to be lent on yesterday's Vote of Credit
[in the House of Commons]. |

Torrington should have all the arrears of rent [arising] out of the estate
which is granted to him which were in the tenants' hands at the time of
passing his grant [and which are yet] not paid into the Exchequer: and
a warrant is to be prepared for the King's hand in that behalf. |

Mr. Lowndes [is directed] to tell Mr. Dodington that he may take
this [the above prize] money in Bank Bills and that the Commissioners
for Sick and Wounded will take from him [Dodington] their part in
like manner. |

The Chancellor of the Exchequer comes in. |

The Excise Commissioners attend. Several projects for raising
money [for supply by means of new Duties on the Excise] are delivered
to them to consider against Thursday morning. |

Ordered that the solicitors of the revenue (the solicitors of the Treasury and of the Customs and of the Excise) make use of none but the
King's Counsel in the King's business unless directed by the Attorney
General or Solicitor General to make use of any other Counsel [such as]
either of them shall name for a particular business. |

Ordered that the accounts of the Solicitors of the Treasury and of
the Customs and of the Excise for the King's law business shall not
be allowed unless first allowed of and signed by the Attorney and Solicitor General besides other proof made of the truth of the same as is
usual: and that those solicitors and those who are to take their
