of John Ward and Tho. Thatcher shewing that by the Act of 1 Wm.
and Mary c. 34 concerning seizures of French goods it is provided that
the pretended owner must first be obliged to answer the penalties of
the Act before he be admitted to enter his claim; and further shewing
that about August last they seized near 17 tuns of French wine to
which one Thomas Ridge did enter his claim and gave security in the
penalty of 1,000l. conditioned to pay petitioners 502l. 10s. 0d. (twothirds whereof were to be to the King and the remaining third to
petitioners) if the goods should be adjudged to be French; that in
Michaelmas term they were so adjudged but he having obtained a

Royal warrant to the Clerk of the Signet for a privy seal to direct
the Treasury Lords to give orders to the officers of the Receipt of the
Exchequer to transfer the several loans in accordance with the provisions of the Act [8–9 Wm. III c. 6] granting a 3s. Land Tax and several
Subsidies, which said Act authorised loans up to 1,500,000l. thereon
including the sums therein appointed to be transferred to the register
of the said land tax, etc. with 8 per cent. interest. In accordance therewith such sums so to be transferred are to have their relevant [money
repayment] orders transferred to the said register with such preference
and in such course and manner as prescribed in the said Act. |

in loans on the above credit not exceeding the above total of 1,500,000l.

the payment of interest to the Treasurer of the Navy on such registered orders in his name for the service of the Navy as remain in his
hands at any time not disposed of to the uses directed by the several
Acts of Parliament. My Lords are of opinion the interest thereof
ought to be paid to the said Treasurer and they desire you to direct
the same from time to time upon the said respective orders and to
make certificates of what shall be so paid and to send same to the
Navy Commissioners to the end they may charge same in the front
of the Navy Treasurer's ledger to be duly accounted for by him

Treasury reference to the Customs Commissioners of the petition
of Eliz. Lowe, widow of Thomas Low, late of Bristol, tobacconist,
shewing that her husband was indebted to the King above 700l. on
bonds for tobacco duties; that John Dutton Colt, collector of the
Customs of Bristol port, soon after her husband's death seized his
shop and household goods but petitioner's estate is incapable of
satisfying the whole debt: therefore praying the King to accept
200l. in discharge of said debt, half thereof to be paid in 6 months,
