Treasury warrant to the Attorney General to enter a noli prosequi upon the information against a parcel of old-fashioned silks mixed with gold and silver which Samuel Wyld of London, weaver in Spittlefields, had by him, which would not sell in England, of which he entered a part in March last on the Amelia, John Robinson master, for Jamaica, which Wyld entered as wrought silks, and accordingly took out his coequet, but same was seized on the quay by Mr. Canby, a deputed searcher, on the ground of wrong entry, as they should have been entered as silks mixed with gold and silver, wrought silks paying a penny per pound by the Book of Rates, but silks mixed as above being ad valorem: but petitioner being poor and ignorant, with a great family, and intending no fraud. |
