1692–3. [? Jan. 11 or Feb. 21.] Treasury reference to Mr. Fox of the petition of Col. James Nugent for the arrears due to himself and to the officers of his Regiment which he brought into their Majesties' service on the surrender of Limerick: praying for same up to the time they were disbanded and that some of the forfeited lands in Ireland may be set out to him at an easy rent whereby he may live, he being now destitute of all manner of subsistence: said petition being referred [? Jan. 11] to the Treasury Lords, by [the King through] Secretary the Earl of Nottingham. Reference Book VI, p. 450.

Feb. 3. Treasury letters patent appointing John Bassett one of the four supervisors of tin blowing houses in Cornwall and Devon loco George Treweek. Warrants not Relating to Money XIV, pp. 179–80.
Feb. 22. Royal warrant to the Clerk of the Signet for a privy seal for 80l. per an. as salary to John Bassett as one of the four Supervisors of Tin Blowing Houses in Cornwall and Devon (viz. three in Kenwyn, one in St. Stephen, one in St. Austell, one at Polgooth in the parish of St. Ewe and one lately built called Bassowe House in the parish of Kea near Truro): to date from Dec. 25 last, from which date the like salary to George Treweeke is to cease. Mar. 2. Report to the Treasury Lords from William Blathwayte on Mr. Neal's petition for mines in America. By a patent in 1687 (supra, Calendar of Treasury Books, Vol. VIII, pp. 1231–2) there was granted to the Duke of Albemarle for 51 years all royal mines and mines of lead, tin, copper etc. in America, except Virginia etc. ut ibid. Under its terms this grant is become void, there having not been any mine opened or wrought by the said Duke, his executors, assigns or agents in any part of their Majesties' Plantations so that the like grant may pass to Mr. Neal under the like conditions. If the term of working such mines be reduced to one year from the date of the patent it will oblige the patentee to apply himself with more speed and industry towards rendering this design useful to the Crown. Mar. 3. Royal letters patent appointing Benj. Gregg to be a Serjeant at Arms loco John Topham, esq., deceased, during pleasure: with the fee of 3s. a day and diet allowance of 2s. 6d. a day, both to commence from Dec. 8 last. King's Warrant Book XVII, p. 198.
Mar. 5. Same appointing Thomas Shirley, esq., to be a Serjeant at Arms loco Sir Roger Harsnet, deceased, during pleasure: with the fee of 3s. a day and diet allowance of 2s. 6d. a day. Ibid.
May 17. Henry Guy to Mr. John Fisher. My Lords are informed that immediately after his Majesty's landing in the West there were several contributions collected by you for his Majesty's service and that the same or a great part thereof doth still remain in your hands. You are forthwith to pay into the Exchequer all such moneys and to send my Lords a list or account of all the particular sums and of the several persons from whom you received the same. April 6. Establishment, under the Queen's sign manual, for a master gunner for the service of the fort and garrison of Kinsale: to commence from—(total, 2s. a day, or 36l. 10s. 0d. per an.). Ibid, p. 220.
April 19. Treasury reference to William Tailer of the petition of Jo[h]n Shuckburgh and Frances his wife for a further lease for 31 years of certain parcels of land and four acres of coppice wood and a sheep walk for 80 sheep, of which he is tenant, within the manor of Maiden Court, co. Berks, parcel of the Duchy of Cornwall. Reference Book VI, p. 478.
April 28. Report to the King from the Treasury Lords on the petition of Col. Henry Lutterell, praying a custodiam of the estate of his brother, Col. Symon Lutterell. We referred same to the Revenue Commissioners, Ireland, and beg to submit herewith their report [missing] thereon “and wait for the signification of your Majesty's royal pleasure thereupon.” Warrants not Relating to Money XIV, p. 223.
April 30. Money warrant for 133s. 6s. 8d. to Brook Bridges and Thomas Done, Auditors of Imprests, for one year to Lady day last on their patent fee of 66l. 13s. 4d. each. Money Book XII, p. 91.
May 1. Regulation, under the Queen's sign manual, of the subsistence to be paid weekly for the Forces and Garrisons: to commence from April 1 last (total for the Forces in England, 8,901l. 18s. 3d.; for the Forces in Flanders, 16,438l. 14s. 6d.: or in all 25,340l. 12s. 9d.). The details differ only slightly from those under date March 13 last supra, pp. 90–2. King's Warrant Book XVII, pp. 220–2.
