May 25.	Petition from Dr. Peter Barwick, on reference from the King of the 12th ult., read and entered, together with a statement of his case. Sets forth that his brother, John Barwick, deceased, made Dean of Durham and Rector of Houghton, 1660, Nov. 24, was removed to the Deanery of St. Paul's, and to avoid non-residency did resign the said rectory, having paid a moiety of the First Fruits, being all that was then due. Petitioner is sued for the remaining moiety as his brother's executor, although the Crown has gained by Berwick's said resignation, seeing that his successor, Dr. William Sandcroft, has paid First Fruits for the said rectory. Ordered: all prosecution in the Exchequer to be stayed. [Ibid. V. pp. 344–5.]
[?May 26]	Petition from William Lambe, late one of the Farmers of Excise for co. Lincoln, and six months a prisoner, praying his release in order to the prosecution of William Dawgs, his former partner in the said farm, and one Mr. Weeks, who since the resumption of said farm, have managed the same and received moneys thereon for which they do not account. Ordered: to have his liberty for three months for this purpose. [Early Entry Book XII. p. 169.]
