The memorial of the 5th inst. from the Excise Commissioners read and entered concerning William Lamb and William Dawgs, Farmers of the Excise of Lincoln, who have not paid the rent contracted for according to their covenants, but are very great sums in arrear, on which it was advised that the said farm should be re-assumed and let to John Weekes, of Ashton, co. Northampton, at the rent of 6, 800l per an. for the remainder of the term. Forward the names of said Weekes's sureties. Ordered: allowed of, and a lease to be made accordingly. Same of the 6th inst. from the Commissioners for Arrears of Excise, read and entered, concerning the arrear of 1,117l. 5s. 1d. standing charged upon Nicholas Bond, Farmer of the Excise of timber and wood imported, on account of rent of said farm for the year ended 1657, March 25, and proposing to accept from his sureties, Sir William Smith and Edward Hart, 654l. 5s. 2d., together with a bill of exchange for 45l. 14s. 10d., drawn by Josiah Child on Edward Allen, sometime Cashier to the Commissioners for the Navy and Victualling, and made payable to the said farmer of imported timber: making in all 700l.
