January 1666

Jan. 25. Richard Bloome's petition, read and entered, showing that he being about to print an encyclopedy in English, His Majesty granted him Customs free 5,000 reams of demy paper and 1,000 reams of royal paper, but that finding the said sorts of paper would be inconvenient for that work he took other sorts not mentioned in the King's warrant, whereupon the Customs officers put a stop on same. Together with: the King's command made hereupon at the Court at Sarum, 1665, Sept. 10, granting him leave to change the said paper for any other sorts of paper. Ordered: [the Customs officers] to observe the King's command. [Early Entry Book XIII. pp. 168–9.]
