Order for the issue to the Treasurer of the Navy, out of public supplies anno 1737, of 15,000l., for recalls of ships lately paid off, and 5,000l. to pay off His Majesty's ship the “Dreadnought,” according to his memorial of this day.
The Revenue Commissioners, Ireland, to be informed that the Treasury have given Wm. Glanville, one of their number, leave to repair to England.
Order for the issue, out of the Civil List Revenues, of 3,000l. to the Privy Purse, and 2,804l. 9s. 10d. to the Treasurer of the Chamber to clear 1737, Lady Day quarter.
Same for a sign manual for the issue of 800l. to John Jacob, and 850l. to Wm. Ellis, as royal bounty, and for 50l. to Stephen Whatley, as same, out of the King's money in Mr. Lowther's hands.
The Customs Commissioners' letter, signed John Manley, in the absence of Mr. Carkesse, consenting to the delivery of the ambassador of Morocco's goods, as the duties thereof do not amount to the duties on goods delivered to a former ambassador, read and agreed to.
“My Lords, on reading a memorial from the Surveyor of His Majesty's Private Roads, praying that the sum of 400l. may be issued to the Paymaster of the Works, to carry on the repair of the said roads, and that he may put a stop to the present tickets, and give new ones to those that ought to pass through His Majesty's said Private Roads, are pleased to agree thereto.”

128. Treasury order, signified by Christopher Tilson to Nicholas Paxton, to complete the agreement with, the Dean and Chapter of Windsor for a lease from them to His Majesty of a piece of ground, containing about four acres, and to renew the lease of the stables for a term of 40 years for the sum of 400l.; the said ground, by being contiguous to and between the stables lately purchased by order of the Treasury and the Little Park, by which means a way may be gained from the stables into the said park, being likely to prove of great service to His Majesty when the Court resides at Windsor.

Order for an information from the Exchequer how the loans on malt or land tax from the Marlborough family stands in respect to the sum paid off and the sum remaining to be paid.
“Know what the Offreckonings and Clearings for the Forces for the year 1737 will amount to, and if it appears that the postponing the payment of that sum and 58,620l. out of the Naval heads will be sufficient to carry on the subsistence till new supplies are granted, let the sum of 51,000l. be issued to the Yards for another quarter.”
The Board of Works' memorial of the 9th instant for paying 400l. to the Dean and Chapter of Windsor for a lease of four acres, adjoining the King's stables there, agreed to. Mr. Paxton to take care hereof.
Know at the Custom House what restraint is put upon any of the goods or equipage imported by Count Cambis, the French Ambassador, and what measures may best be taken to remove the same.
Mr. Fort, Clerk of the Works at Hampton Court, is to be paid 43l. or thereabouts out of the moneys remaining in the Exchequer of the late King's arrears, in part of his debt.

Memorial from the Duke of Devonshire, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, to the Treasury, dated from Dublin Castle, for the issue of 185l. 10s. 2¾d. to each of twelve battalions, detailed, to make good the deficiency in the offreckonings of said battalions, viz.:—First Battalion of Royal, Second Battalion of Royal, Lieut.-General Sutton's, Lieut.-General Dormer's, Lieut.-General Bissett's, Lieut.-General Dalzell's, late Major-General Moyle's, Brig. Otways', Col. Ponsonby's, Col. Bragg's, late Col. Wentworth's, Sir James Wood's, “whose additional men were lately reduced in this kingdom, which were assigned to the 2nd of June, 1736, having been further assigned, pursuant to His Majesty's pleasure signified to me, to the 24th of June 1736, from which time the annual assignments of the offreckonings of the whole twenty battalions in this kingdom commence, and there being still a deficiency in the offreckonings for clothing each of the said twelve battalions, occasioned by the reduction of their additional men. …” 2 pages.

“My Lords agree to further loanes to be taken in on the Land Tax 1737 at Michaelmas next to the amount of 70,000l., whereof 50,000l. from the Trustees for the Marlborough family and 20,000l. from other hands.”
Ordered that the salaries and pensions payable at the Exchequer be cleared to Lady Day last, and that 986l. 4s. 6d for the Office of Robes to midsummer last be issued out of the Civil List Revenues.
“The memorial of the Paymaster General of the Forces of the 3rd instant is read, amounting to 125,601l. 2s. 11d., and the several articles therein except 14,062l. 10s. for the Danish Subsidy is ordered to be issued out of the Publick Funds for the year 1737.”
Order for 231l. to Thomas Mann, out of the King's money in Mr. Lowther's hands, for 330 yards of damask, provided by him at 14s. per yard, for the new Treasury Chambers.

Sir Charles Wager to John Scrope, dated from the Admiralty Office, enclosing two papers [lost], the one from the Portuguese Envoy, who says, “that if the Portuguese merchant be tax'd here (which they have not been before, tho' two resided here at one time), the merchts at Lisbon will be tax'd there for the future, tho' they never have been yet; so that for 20l. paid by one Portuguese here the English merchants at Lisbon may pay 1,000l.;” the other paper being a memorial from the Corbetts to Sir Robert Walpole. 1 page.

Treasury warrant to the Auditor of the Receipt to pay Jonathan Forward of London, merchant, 1,010l., being 5l. per head for the whole charge of transporting 202 felons out of Newgate Gaol and the county gaols of Hertford, Essex, Sussex, Surrey, Kent, and Bucks to Maryland and Virginia on board the “Pretty Patsie,” Francis Lux, Commander, and the “Forward” galley, John Magier, Commander.

Mr. Tucker's letter of the 17th instant read, complaining of persons raising stone in the Portland Island quarries, in contempt of his authority and without licence from him as supervisor thereof. Before approving Mr. Tucker's proceeding at law against them their Lordships would know whether the Surveyor of Works, who has power over the said quarries, has authorised said persons to raise stone without Tucker's privity.
Sir Richard Lane's petition read and referred to the Attorney and Solicitor General, to consider and rehear all parties, and report what may be done to end the long dispute between petitioner and the Salt Commissioners.
Matthew Woodford's present contract for victualling Gibraltar and Placentia is to be surrendered or otherwise made void and a new one entered into, with further provisions and clauses for the good of the service, such as are thought necessary, and to which Woodford has consented.

The report of the Auditors of Imprests of 1735, August 19, read, stating the accounts of Wm. Addis, formerly agent for victualling Plymouth, in discharge of imprests to the amount of 18,930l. 9s. 5d. Their Lordships think it reasonable same should pass, only that the 285.l. 3s. 5d. paid to Sir Richard Haddock and others be absolutely allowed as so paid, without setting same in super upon Sir Richard's executors, and that the 116l. 7s. 10d., stated as the balance owing to the said Wm. Addis, be waived, and the account be thereby made even and quit.

135. Royal warrant, countersigned by the Lords of the Treasury, to Thos. Foley, one of the Auditors of Imprests, to pass the Royal Africa Company's account of the application and expenditure of the 10,000l., imprested to them at the Exchequer, pursuant to an Act of 4 Geo. II., towards the maintenance of British forts and settlements, belonging to said Company on the coast of Africa: all upon condition that the excess of the said Company's payments and claims above the sum of 10,000l., imprested to them as above, and which amounts to 3,175l. 2s., be inserted in said account in such terms that it may appear that all pretensions to said overplus are waived by said Company.
Appending:—Report to the Treasury from James Thomas, Deputy to Thomas Foley, an Auditor of Imprests, on said account, entered in detail, of the civil and military establishments and expenditure of said Royal Africa Company at Cape Coast Castle, Dixcove, Seccondee, Commendah, Tantumquerry, Agga, Winnebah, James' Fort at Accra, Quittah, Gambia.

A petition in the name of Micajah Perry, et al., read for compounding judgments against them for offences relating to the revenues. Referred to Customs Commissioners.
“Transmit the extracts of the letters from the officers of the Customs at Falmouth, concerning the riotous assembling of tinners there, to the Secretary at War, for him to confer with the Duke of Newcastle thereupon, who has received an express from the said town about this affair.”
Mr. Tucker, the Conservator of Quarries in the Isle of Portland, is to proceed on the action he has brought by the Attorney General's advice against Richard, John, and William Flan for raising stone without licence, the Board of Works having acquainted their Lordships that neither the said Flans nor any other person have had leave from them for so doing.
Order for the issue to the Treasurer of the Navy, out of the moneys of the Sinking Fund, of 20,419l., to clear the course of the Navy and Victualling for the month of April 1737, according to said Treasurer's memorial of this date.
