Her late husband had discovered concealed lands, value 25,000£., at his own cost in the late reign, but his Majesty pardoning the owners of them at the coronation, he was deprived of his fee of one-sixth of the same, and died in debt. Prays the recompense intended for her by the Lord Treasurer Dorset and Sir John Fortescue, but hindered by their recent deaths.

Aug. 23. 63. Henry Earl of Southampton to Salisbury. His claim as Vice-Admiral to half of La Motte's vessel, seized at Portsmouth, is obstructed by Jobson, servant of the Lord Admiral, who claims the whole, as farmer for his lordship. Annexed is,

68. Mayor of Bristol to the Earl of Salisbury. Certain goods belonging to Bristol merchants have been taken by Capt. Jennings, a pirate, and carried into Baltimore. The Lord President of Munster ordered them to be transported to Bristol, which is done, but some were taken away by Capt. Williams of the Tremontane; requests their restitution.

69. Sir William Bowyer to the Same. Being in attendance on Lord Dunbar in Scotland, he deputed him to meet Sir Wm. Godolphin, at Berwick, and conduct him to Edinburgh. Godolphin pleased with the mines. Could not obtain workmen to get stones at Ber- wick for Salisbury, till Dunbar ordered three or four to be spared from the works on the bridge and castle.

The Earl of Salisbury is desirous Carleton should go to Bath to prevent so unjust an act. It would confirm the scandal cast upon Lady Norris, at the time of her separation from her husband.

Aug. ? 75. The King to Lord Stanhope. Reproves him for negligence in allowing spoil of game near the house at Eltham, of which he has the charge. Exhorts him to greater vigilance, and to proclaim the execution of the laws with all severity against offenders.
Aug. ? 76. The Same to Lord St. John, Lieutenant of [Huntingdonshire.] Since leaving that county, he is informed that Sir Wm. Dyer was the person who killed the great stag, which had been preserved for his recreation against his coming there. Thanks Lord St. John for the grief and concern he has shewn, and bids him command Sir William to repair to Court.
Aug. ? 77. Same to the Same. Thanks for his care of the King's recreations. He is to summon Sir Wm. Dyer to appear presently at Court, the trespass being aggravated by being committed in spite of Lord St. John's admonitions.
