July 2. Grant to James Earl of Carlisle, entitled "the first grant of" the following islands called "the Caribbees," viz., St. Christopher's, Grenada, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, Barbadoes, Mittalanea, Dominico, Marigalante, Deseada, Todosantes, Guadaloupe, Antigua, Montserrat, Redendo, Barbuda, Nevis, Statia [St. Eustache?], St. Bartholomew, St. Martin, Anguilla, Sembrera, Enegada, and other islands, before found out to his great cost, and brought to be a large and copious colony of English, to be hereafter named "the Carlisle or the islands of Carlisle province," reserving a yearly rent of 100l., and a white horse when the King, his heirs and successors, shall come into those parts.
