To the dean and Solomon Macreuair and Arthur Mackathmail, canons, of Armagh. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Donald Ocaeylti, clerk, of the diocese of Derry, that Magonius Ogillamur, archdeacon of Connor and Luke Omurgelan sive Omurgelaich, rector called prior of the parish church of Mucamayr in the diocese of Connor, have committed simony and perjury and are notorious fornicators) if Donald—who has for several years studied canon and civil law in places which are not universities (in particularibus locis), is illegitimate, being the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, is on his mother's side of a race of princes and dukes, and on account of the power of Magonius and Luke has no hopes of obtaining justice in the city or diocese of Connor—will accuse them etc. as usual, to summon them, and if they find the above to be true, to deprive them, and in that event to collate and assign the said archdeaconry, a major dignity with cure, and the said rectory, value not exceeding 8 and 16 marks sterling respectively, to Donald, whom the pope hereby dispenses, notwithstanding his recent ordinance to the contrary [see above, p. 5], and notwithstanding Donald's said defect, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold the said two benefices together for life. To John de Railstoun, licentiate in canon law. Collation and provision to him, who is a priest and a licentiate of canon law by examination, at his own petition and that
of James, king of Scots, whose secretary he is, of the deanery of Dunkeld, a major elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 60l.sterling, which became void and reserved, under the pope's late reservation of all major dignities, by the death of John Stewart, and to which the chapter, perhaps ignorant of the said reservation, elected him, who, likewise ignorant, consented to the election and had it confirmed by James, bishop of Dunkeld, and in virtue of the said election and confirmation obtained possession and still holds it; the pope having this day admitted the resignation of Richard Clephanie, priest, of the diocese of St. Andrews, to whom he recently granted provision, on voidance as above, of which grant the letters have not yet been drawn up; notwithstanding that he holds the parish church of Kirkirderys (rectius Kirkanderys) in the diocese of Whiteherne, of lay patronage and value not exceeding 20l. sterling, which he is hereby dispensed to hold with the said deanery for life. To the abbot of Kinlos in the diocese of Moray, Andrew de Dunon, archdeacon of the church of Sodor, dwelling in the said diocese [of Moray], and the official of Moray. Mandate, at the recent petition of David Stewart, a canon of Ross, M.A. (containing that William Goldismyt and James Innes resigned for purpose of exchange their respective benefices, namely the treasurership and a canonry and prebend of Moray to John, bishop of Moray who carried out the exchange; and adding that the bishop's collation and provision of the treasurership to James are without force because he was excommunicated) to declare, after enquiry, the said collation and provision null and invalid, and to collate and assign the said treasurership, a non-major dignity with cure, value not exceeding 40l.sterling, still void by the said resignation of William, to the said David, who is a kinsman of James, king of Scotland (Scocie); removing the said James, who under pretext of the said null collation and provision has detained possession for about three years; notwithstanding that David holds a canonry and prebend of Ross, value not exceeding 10l.sterling, and that the pope lately made provision to him of a canonry of Dunkeld and another of Aberdeen, with reservation of as many prebends and of a dignity etc. of one of them, which, upon his obtaining the said treasurership, shall be without force as far only as regards such dignity etc. Nobilitas generis, litterarum etc. (An and Cyprianus. | An. xxiiii. Mandate to receive and admit the resignation which Andrew Magbradaych, archdeacon of Kilmore, proposes to make, and to collate and assign the archdeaconry, a major non-elective dignity without cure, value not exceeding 12 marks sterling, to Eugenius Oragillich, clerk, of the diocese of Kilmore, who is by both parents of a stock of kings.
