1443. 4 Non. Nov. St Peter's, Rome. (f. 46d.)	To the abbot of St. Mary's, Abbeygormacan (Nova via), and the prior of St. Catherine's, Acraym Omayne, in the diocese of Clonfert, and Dermit Ocluan, a canon of Clonfert. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Thomas Okeallayd, clerk, of the diocese of Clonfert, that Matthew Osyridean, a canon of Clonfert, a notorious fornicator, has dilapidated the canonry and prebend of Culfada in Clonfert) if Thomas, who is of noble race, will accuse Matthew before them etc. as usual to summon Matthew, and if they find the above to be true, to deprive him, and in that event to collate and assign the said canonry and prebend, value not exceeding 5 marks sterling, to Thomas; whether it become void by such deprivation, or be void by the death without the Roman court of Bernard Ykeallaid or in any other way. 12 Kal. Sept. (fn. 2) Siena. (f. 132.)	To the dean and archdeacon and Nicholas Odubgylla, a canon, of Kilmacduagh. Mandate—the pope having been informed by Charles Macgillapadrig, clerk, of the diocese of Killaloe, that Donald Ocuynd has dilapidated his canonry and prebend of Raycblacmych (sic), is a notorious fornicator and has committed perjury and simony—if Charles (who from fear of Donald's power cannot safely meet him in the city and diocese of Killaloe) will accuse Donald before them etc. as usual, to summon Donald, and if they find the above to be true, to deprive Donald and in that event to collate and assign the said canonry and prebend, value not exceeding 5 marks sterling, to Charles; notwithstanding that the said Donald lately obtained the union for his life by authority of the ordinary to the said canonry and prebend of the rectory of the parish churches de Killnafearbagy et Colleboum de Obracayn in the said diocese, and that the pope recently ordered the dissolution thereof, and provision to be made [Cal. To the abbots of Corcomroe (de Petra fertuli [sic]) and Kylldchenayd in the diocese of Kilfenora, and the dean of Kilmacduagh, Mandate to collate and assign to Charles M[a]cgillapadryg, clerk, of the diocese of Killaloe, a canonry and a canon's portion, value not exceeding 20s. sterling, of the church of Kilfenora, in which, although there is a fixed number of canons, there are no separate prebends, void and ipso facto reserved to the pope because Florence Oloch[l]ynd obtained possession of the archdeaconry of the said church, collated to him by authority of letters of the present pope, which by the statutes of the said church cannot be held with the said canonry and portion; whether they be void as above, or by the resignation of Donatus, elect of Killaloe, made to the pope before provision of that church was made to him, or be void in any other way; and notwithstanding that the pope has ordered provision to be made to Charles of the rectory of the parish churches de Killnastarbagy (rectius Killnafearbagy) et Colleboum de Obracayn in the said diocese, value not exceeding 14 marks, and a canonry and the prebend of Kayeblacnych (sic) in Killaloe, value not exceeding 5 marks. Mandate to collate and assign to Thady Macconmara, clerk, of the diocese of Killaloe, a canonry and the prebend of Dysert Maellachala in Killaloe, value not exceeding 6 marks sterling, void by the death without the Roman court of John Ydeayg; whether they be so void, or whether they be still void by the death of John Ylongayn without the said court, or be void in any other way. 3 Non. Sept. Siena. (f. 199.)	To the abbot of SS. John and Peter's, Cluoynard, in the diocese of Meath, the archdeacon of Annadown (Anachdunen.), and Thady Omanaid, a canon of Kildare. Mandate—the pope having been informed by William Rany, priest, of the diocese of Tuam, that Raymund (Remundus) Bremicham, dean of Tuam, has dilapidated etc. goods of the deanery and is a notorious fornicator—if William (who is a priest, and who was lately dispensed by papal authority, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which, having been so promoted, he obtained the perpetual vicarage of Killbenan in the said diocese, which he has recently resigned, and whom the pope hereby absolves, as far as regards the taking effect of these presents, from anysoever sentences of excommunication etc. which he has incurred, and who, on account of Raymund's power, has no hope of obtaining justice in the city or diocese of Tuam) will accuse Raymund before them etc. as usual, to summon Raymund and if they find the above or one of them to be true, to deprive Raymund and in that event to collate and assign the said deanery, a major dignity with cure, value not exceeding 16 marks sterling, to William, whom the pope hereby dispenses, on account of the said defect etc., to hold it. Collation and provision to him (who is of a noble race of dukes, and who was lately dispensed by papal authority, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted ... cure as in the preceding, after which, having been so promoted, he obtained the perpetual vicarage of St. Michael's in the diocese of Ardagh) of the archdeaconry of Ardagh, a non-major dignity, value not exceeding 12 marks sterling, void, and ipso facto reserved, by the death at the apostolic see of Carbricus Offergayl; whether it be so void, or be void by the non-promotion of Maurice Macgyllanane to any holy order, or by a contract of marriage made by the same Maurice with a woman of the said diocese, or in any other way; and notwithstanding that he holds the said vicarage, value not exceeding 5 marks. He is hereby dispensed, notwithstanding the said defect etc., to hold for life with the said archdeaconry (which has no place of residence, and whose fruits etc. consist in small procurations and in divers churches) the said vicarage. 13 Kal. Aug. Siena. (f. 268.)	To the bishop of Clonmacnoise (Colonen.) and the priors of Molinger and Dermach in the diocese of Meath. Mandate to collate and assign to David Okuayne, perpetual vicar of Ballikuayne in the diocese of Kildare, the deanery of Kildare, a major dignity with cure, value not exceeding 8 marks sterling, void and reserved, under the pope's late reservation of all major cathedral dignities, by the death without the Roman court of John Edward; summoning and removing Malachy Omalonma, priest, of the said diocese who, after holding together for some years without dispensation and against Execrabilis the rectory of Lecach and the perpetual vicarage of Carn in the said diocese, and without having been rehabilitated, has, under pretext of a null collation made to him of the said deanery, unlawfully detained it for more than a year but less than two, and on account of whose power David has no hope of obtaining justice in the city or diocese of Kildare; notwithstanding that David holds the said vicarage, value not exceeding 3 marks, and that he has laid out great sums of money on the repair of the said parish church, that he has at his own expense built another church within its bounds, and that the said churches are not distant more than a mile of those parts. The pope hereby dispenses David, on account of the said defect etc., to hold for life the said deanery and vicarage, notwithstanding his late ordinance to the contrary [see above, p. 5], etc. Vite etc. (An. and Ja. 16 Kal. Aug. Siena. (f. 277.)	To the bishop of Clonmacnoise (Cluonen.) Mandate—the pope having been informed by Eugenius Ocerbayll alias Waithne, rector of Kennhete sive Kynnollarga in the diocese of Killaloe, that Thady Macconmara, archdeacon of Killaloe, has dilapidated the said archdeaconry, has perpetrated homicide against the person of a layman of those parts, and is a notorious fornicator—if Eugenius (who is of a noble and princely race, and who on account of Thady's power has no hope of obtaining justice in the city and diocese of Killaloe) will accuse Thady before the above bishop as usual, to summon Thady, and if he find the above to be true, to deprive Thady, and in that event to collate and assign the said archdeaconry, a non-major non-elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 40 marks sterling, to Eugenius; notwithstanding that he holds the said rectory, value not exceeding 8 marks, which he accepted by vigour of letters by which the present pope lately ordered provision to be made to him of a canonry with reservation of a prebend and dignity etc. of Killaloe, and of a benefice with or without cure in the gift of the bishop and chapter etc. of Killaloe, and that the pope dispensed him to hold for life two benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if parish churches or perpetual vicarages or dignities etc., and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleased. 4 Non. Nov. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 284.)	To the abbot of Fearn (Nonefern) in the diocese of Ross, the succentor of Ross and the official of Caithness. Mandate to collate and assign to Alexander de Ratir, priest, of the diocese of Caithness, the chancellorship of Caithness, a non-major dignity with cure, value not exceeding 12l. sterling, void by the death without the Roman court of Gilbert Vaws; summoning and removing David de Dysyngton, clerk, of noble birth, who took possession under pretext of a collation made by the ordinary after it had been void so long that its collation had lapsed to the apostolic see, and has detained it for more than a year but less than two; whether it be void as stated, or because the said Gilbert held it without being promoted within the lawful time to the holy orders which it requires and without dispensation, or by the resignation of the said Gilbert, or in any other way; notwithstanding that the present pope recently ordered provision to be made to Alexander of the perpetual vicarage of Westia in the diocese of Orkney, value not exceeding 4 marks sterling. He is hereby dispensed to hold both together for life, and resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, and hold instead two other incompatible benefices, provided that they be not two major or principal dignities, nor one of each, nor one of such and a parish church, nor two parish churches.
