To David Cadw, priest, of the diocese of Glasgow, licentiate of canon law. Rehabilitation as below. His recent petition contained that (after he had been dispensed by papal authority to hold with his parish church of Kylerne in the diocese of Glasgow another benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible, for two years if it were a parish church or a perpetual vicarage, or for seven years if it were a dignity etc.; and had obtained the parish church of Carket in the said diocese, and without any other dispensation had held Carket and Kylerne together for more than two years), on the voidance, by the death of John de Hawyk, of the precentorship of Glasgow, a non-major dignity with cure, bishop John made collation and provision to him thereof by his ordinary authority, under pretext of which he obtained possession, and detained it for more than a year with Kylerne and (having resigned Kylerne and Carket; two sentences having been pronounced about his right to enter upon the said church of Kylerne, the second of which became a res judicata; and a cause being now pending in the Roman court about the nullity of the said sentences) still detains it; and that the pope at David's instance committed to Master John de Mella, a papal chaplain and auditor, who is said to have taken some proceedings, the cause which arose about the said precentorship between him and Lawrence Pyor (rectius Pyot), priest, of the diocese of St. Andrews, who opposed the above provision and hindered David's peaceable possession. At the said petition of David, who is a licentiate of canon law by examination, the pope hereby rehabilitates him on account of the aforesaid, but requires him to resign the precentorship, Sedes apostolica, pia mater. To Master John de Mella, papal chaplain and auditor. Mandate, recapitulating the preceding—seeing that the above collation and provision are invalid, that the above Laurence has this day ceded to the pope the above precentorship and all his right, and that the pope has admitted his cession—after the above David has duly resigned, to surrogate him in and to the said right etc., and, moreover, to collate and assign to him the precentorship itself, non-elective, value not exceeding 50l. sterling. David is hereby dispensed to hold for life it and any other benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible, and to resign both, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, and hold instead two incompatible benefices, not being two parish churches. To Nemeas Obeollan, Dermit Mageadgan and Charles Ohainmi, canons of Killala. Mandate—the pope having been informed by Maurice Oflangale, clerk, of the diocese of Killala, that Ranaldus Orolain, perpetual vicar of Scrinavnain in the said diocese, laid violent hands on Fergallus Offarand and other clerks of the said diocese and wounded them, even to the extent of no small bloodshed, and, without absolution, has several times celebrated mass and other divine offices in the said church, in contempt of the keys, thereby incurring irregularity—if Maurice will accuse Ranaldus before them, to summon the said Ranaldus, and if they find the above to be true, to deprive him, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, value not exceeding 8 marks sterling, to Maurice.Vite etc. (B. and Ja.
