1425. 6 Id. March. SS. Apostoli, Rome. (f. 26.)	To the archdeacon of Derry. Mandate to collate and assign to Nicholas Magmallgussa, rector of Congbail in the diocese of Raphoe (who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders, and hold a benefice even with cure), the deanery of Raphoe, a major elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 30 marks, void and reserved, under the pope's late general reservation of all major dignities in cathedral churches, by the death of Reuelinus Odaighiri, removing Cornelius Macgillabridi, who unduly detains possession; whether it be void as stated, or by the death of Furgallus Omhaelghaichi, or in any other way; notwithstanding that Nicholas holds the above church, value not exceeding 8 marks, which he is to resign upon obtaining the said deanery. 6 Kal. April. SS. Apostoli, Rome. (f. 35.)	To James Scrymegeour, licentiate of civil law. Collation and provision to him, who is also M.A., is by both parents of noble birth, and became licentiate of civil law by examination, of the deanery of Aberdeen, a major elective dignity with cure, the annual value of whose fruits etc. (upon which a yearly pension of 20l. of old sterlings is said to have been constituted by papal authority for Ingram de Lyndesay, canon of Brechin) does not exceed 60l. of like sterlings, void, and reserved as in the preceding, by the death of Patrick Spaldung, who was also a papal referendary, and who died in Rome, after the pope had transferred the Roman court thence to Tivoli, Nicholas Tunok, priest, of the diocese of Aberdeen, M.A., who has unduly detained possession, although not yet for two years, being removed; whether it be void as stated, or by the death of Richard Militis within two days’ Journey of the Roman court, or because Nicholas de Atholia, priest, to whom provision of the deanery, void as stated above, was granted by the pope, has this day resigned the said grant to the pope, before the letters thereof had been drawn up, or whether it became void in any other way; notwithstanding that James holds the parish church of Dunotir, and is litigating in the apostolic palace about that of St. Columba, Glasrode, of which he is in possession, (fn. 2) and which is of lay patronage, in the dioceses of St. Andrews and Argyll, the value of which churches does not exceed 40l. of old sterlings, and that the pope lately made him provision (under which he obtained Dunnotir) of a canonry of Glasgow, with reservation of a prebend thereof, and reservation of a benefice with or without cure, even if a dignity etc., in the common or several gift of the bishop and the prior and chapter of St. Andrews, dispensing him to hold for life, together with such benefice etc. with cure or dignity etc., any other benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible, and to resign them, simply or for exchange, and hold instead two incompatible benefices. Provision to him, who was prior of Bromholm, of the order of Cluny, in the diocese of Norwich, in priest's orders, of the above see, void by the death of Milus, during whose life it was specially reserved by the present pope. Collation and provision to him (who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of an un- married man and an unmarried woman, related in the fourth and fourth degrees of kindred, to be promoted etc., as above. f. 26) of the parish church of Carnnsegail in the diocese of Armagh, value not exceeding 5 marks, void and reserved because Patrick Olucheran obtained collation, by authority of papal letters, of the perpetual vicarage of Dompnachmor in the said diocese, although Cristin Olucheran, priest, of the same diocese, has, without canonical title, unduly detained possession for more than five years, as he still does. To Robert de Carannach, M.A. Collation and provision to him, who is also a bachelor of canon law, of the perpetual vicar- age, value not exceeding 12l. of old sterlings, of Tibermor in the diocese of Dunkeld, void, and therefore reserved, by the death at the apostolic see of Henry de Ogilby; notwithstanding that the pope lately granted provision to be made to him of a canonry of Dunkeld and another of Moray, with reservation of a prebend etc., as above, p. 371, and, by other letters, made provision to him of a canonry of Dunblane, with reservation of a prebend and of a dignity etc. therein, and of a benefice with or without cure in the common or several gift of the Benedictine abbot and convent of Abirbrothoc in the diocese of St. Andrews. He is hereby dispensed to hold for three years together with the said vicarage such dignity etc. or such, or any other benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible, with the usual condition of exchanging or resigning. Mandate to collate and assign to Michael Ouchtre, dean of Dunblane, bachelor of canon law (who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, (i) to be promoted to all, even holy orders, and hold a benefice even with cure, even if a canonry and prebend in a cathedral church, (ii) to hold any other mutually compatible benefices with or without cure, of any number and kind, and to exchange them as often as he wished), the perpetual vicarage, value not exceeding 12l. of old sterlings, of Tybermore in the diocese of Dunkeld, void by the death of William de Muskelburch; notwithstanding that he holds the said deanery, a major dignity with cure (which he is to resign upon obtaining the said vicarage) and a canonry of Dunkeld and the prebend of Inchemagranach, value with the deanery not exceeding 24l. of old sterlings. 5 Kal. Sept. SS. Apostoli, Rome. (f. 186.)	To the bishop of Sodor, the abbot of St. Columba's, Y, in the diocese of Sodor, and the archdeacon of Sodor. Mandate to collate and assign to Nigel Doncani, clerk, of the diocese of Sodor (who lately, without mention of his illegitimacy, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, had himself tonsured), the parish church of St. John the Evangelist in Ardinis in the said diocese, value not exceeding 5 marks sterling, void by the resignation of Duffey (Duffatus) Nigelli, priest, sometime vicar (sic) of the said church, made before Cristinus Duffati and Duncan Nemie and other magnates of those parts; although the said Duffey, who is to be removed, has unduly detained possession for more than a year after his said resignation, as he still does. Mandate, there being no supply of lawyers (jurisperitorum copia) in the city and diocese of Argyll, to make inquiry, and if they find the facts to be as stated, to collate and assign to Bean David, clerk, of the diocese of Argyll (who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted etc. as above, f. 26), the perpetual vicarage, value not exceeding 5l. of old sterlings, of St. Bride's in Lorn, in the said diocese, so long void, by the death of Cristinus Macamanach, that its collation has by the Lateran statutes lapsed to the apostolic see; although Brice (Brixius) Kenniti, priest, who is to be removed, has unduly detained possession for about a year and a half without canonical title; notwithstanding that the pope recently granted provision to be made to Bean of the precentorship of Lismore, a nonmajor, non-elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 8l. of old sterlings, of which he has not got possession, and with which he is hereby dispensed to hold the said vicarage for life, and to resign both, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases. Mandate to collate and assign to Thady Omeachyr, clerk, of the diocese of Killaloe (who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, to be promoted etc., as above, f. 26), the perpetual vicarage, value not exceeding 5 marks, of Castletown Ely (de Castro Phillippi) in the said diocese, void because Henry Olayth alias Olathym, who is to be removed, held it for a year and a half without having himself ordained priest and without dispensation: notwithstanding that the pope recently [above, p. 398] ordered provision to be made to him of the perpetual vicarage of Butyun (sic) in the said diocese, value not exceeding 8 marks, with which he is hereby dispensed to hold that of Castletown Ely for life, and to resign them, simply or for exchange. Mandate, there being no supply of lawyers in the diocese of Argyll, to make inquiry, and if they find the facts to be as stated, to collate and assign to John Malcolmi, clerk, of the said diocese, the rectory, of the patronage of laymen, value not exceeding 9l. of old sterlings, of the parish church of St. Bean in Upper Lorn, called of Kilmor, in the said diocese, which became void by the death of Michael [no surname], and also the vicarage of the same church, value not exceeding 4l. of old sterlings, which became void because the late Peter Donaldi held it for more than a year without having himself ordained priest and without dispensation, both rectory and vicarage having been so long void that by the Lateran statutes their collation has lapsed to the apostolic see; removing John de Arane, who has unduly detained possession of the rectory for a year and a half, and Maurice Fullonis, who has similarly kept possession of the vicarage for more than twelve years, both of them priests, of the dioceses of Sodor and Argyll. The collation is to be made whether the said rectory and vicarage became void as stated, or by the resignation of Conganus Machabei, or of the said Michael.
