(f. 55d.)		 To Richard Militis, dean of Aberdeen, bachelor of canon law. Collation and provision to him, who is also M.A., of the deanery of Aberdeen, a major elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 80 marks of old sterlings, which has a canonry and prebend annexed to it, void and reserved by the recent death at Rome, whilst following the Roman court thence to Tivoli, of Patrick de Spalding, member of the papal court (curialis) and referendary; notwithstanding that he holds the parish church of Combeth in the diocese of St. Andrews, and that provision was lately made to him by papal authority of the canonry and prebend of Menmur in Dunkeld, of which he has not got possession, the value of all which likewise does not exceed 80 marks. He is hereby dispensed to hold the said deanery and church together for three years. Litterarum sciencia, vite etc.

The pope lately made provision to him of the previously reserved deanery of Aberdeen, which has a canonry and prebend annexed to it, on its voidance by the death at Rome, as in the preceding. of Patrick [de] Spal[d]ing, and dispensed him to hold with it for three years his parish church of Furby in the diocese of Aberdeen [above, p. 243]. At his recent petition, containing that he doubts whether the deanery did not become void in some other way than the above, and is not still void, the pope grants to him (who has obtained the deanery under the said provision, and still holds the said church, value not exceeding 16 marks sterling, and to whom the pope lately granted provision of canonries with expectation of prebends of Dunkeld and Moray) that the said letters of provision shall hold good even if the deanery, a major elective dignity with cure, value with its annexes not exceeding 100 marks, be still void as above, or has become void by the death of Richard Militis, who died on his way from the Roman court within two days’ journey therefrom, or be void in any other way. Confirmation, at the petition of Henry, archbishop of Canterbury, and William C[h]ichele, archdeacon of Canterbury, of the sale made to them by the Benedictine abbot John and the convent of St. Ouen (Sancti Audocni), Rouen, of the manor [or priory] of Mersey alias Mersege in the diocese of London, of the said order, value not exceeding 150 marks a year; with licence for the said archbishop to found and to endow from the fruits of the said manor a college, with church, bell-tower, bells, houses etc., for a master, chaplains and clerks, in honour and under the name of St. Mary the Virgin and SS. Thomas the Martyr and Edward the Confessor, in the parish of Hiiegam Ferres in the diocese of Lincoln, and to draw up statutes for it. The patronage of the college is hereby reserved in perpetuity to archbishop Henry and his successors, and the church of the manor, with its cemetery, is not to be profaned, but is to be served by a fit priest maintained from the fruits of the manor. To William de Fowlic, rector of Camyslang in the diocese of Glasgow, M.A. Dispensation to him (whom the pope lately dispensed, already holding Camyslang, of the patronage of laymen, value not exceeding 30l. of old sterlings, to hold therewith for three years the parish church of Seton in the diocese of St. Andrews, also of the patronage of laymen, value not exceeding 40l.; who is chancellor of Archibald, earl of Douglas; has taken his M.A. at Paris; and in virtue of the said dispensation has obtained Seton, and is still within the said period of three years), to hold, at his own petition and that of the said earl, the said two churches together for life, with consent of the patrons, and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases. Mandate, at the petition of Rory Yheadgra and Auina ingi Eadgra, of his diocese—containing that, not in ignorance that they were related on both sides in the fourth degree of kindred, and that Auina's father confirmed Rory (Ruaricum frontis crismacione confirmauit), they have more than once committed fornication with one another and had offspring—to dispense them to marry, notwithstanding the said impediments of kindred and spiritual relationship, penance being imposed, and offspring past and future being decreed legitimate.
