Mandate to collate and assign to William Edwardi, clerk, of the diocese of Kildare, B.C.L. (who lately had papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted etc. as above, f. 4) the archdeaconry of Kildare, a non-major non-elective dignity with cure. value not exceeding 20 marks, void by the death of Richard Cogdan, although Adam Taylour, priest, of the diocese of Dublin, who is to be summoned and removed, unlawfully detains possession; notwithstanding that the pope has this day (after rehabilitating William for having, without having any other dispensation on account of his said illegitimacy, obtained possession of and held for some time, as he was then doing, the canonry and prebend of Ley in Kildare) ordered provision to be made to him of the said canonry and prebend, together with which he is hereby dispensed to hold the archdeaconry. 7 Id. Jan. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 28d.)	To Nicholas Haket. Collation and provision to him, who has studied canon and civil law for about six years at Oxford, of the deanery of Ossory, a major elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 80 marks, void by the death of John Ocuyrk, and reserved to the pope under his late reservation of all major cathedral dignities, void and to be void, in Ireland; notwithstanding that he holds the treasurership of Cashel, a dignity, and the canonries and prebends of Inysnak in Ossory and Kyltagayn and Donnachmoyr in Lismore, and that the pope has lately granted him provision of the archdeaconry of Ossory, of which he has not got possession, value not exceeding 96 marks. Upon obtaining the deanery under these presents he is to resign the said treasurership, and the said grant shall be null. Vite etc.

7 Id. July. Tivoli. (f. 79d.)	To Nicholas Claullis. Collation and provision of the deanery of Leighlin, a major dignity with cure, value not exceeding 16 marks, to which on its becoming void by the death of John Macumurhuga alias Edalagh, and therefore reserved to the pope under his above general reservation, the chapter, to whom the election ordinarily belongs, in ignorance of the pope's said reservation, elected Nicholas who, likewise ignorant, obtained confirmation of the election from John Stantoun, clerk, vicar-general in spirituals of Richard then bishop of Leighlin, which election and confirmation being null, the deanery is still void. Kal. Sept. S. Maria Maggiore, Rome. (f. 84.)	To the abbot of Inishlounaght (de Surio) and the prior of the priory of Cathyr in the diocese of Lismore, and the treasurer of Lismore. Mandate to summon John Rede, sometime dean of Waterford and others concerned, and if he find that, as the pope has learned, the said John, after obtaining the said deanery by canonical collation, has held it for more than a year without having himself ordained priest, to collate and assign it, a major dignity with cure, value not exceeding 20 marks, consequently void, to Edmund Flemyng, priest, of the diocese of Cashel, any unlawful detainer being removed; notwithstanding that Edmund has lately had provision by authority of the ordinary of the perpetual vicarage, possession of which he has not yet got, of Kyllbrhac in the said diocese, value not exceeding 3 marks, which, upon obtaining the deanery, he is to resign. Mandate to collate and assign to John Fytzmoris, rector of Kyllury in the diocese of Ardfert, who is of noble birth, the precentorship of Ardfert, a non-major non-elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 10 marks, void and reserved by Execrabilis because Patrick [son] of Gerald Fytzmoris, when holding the perpetual vicarage of Kymaylle in the said diocese, obtained by canonical collation and held it therewith; notwithstanding that John holds the canonry and prebend of Kyllgobnythan in Lismore and the above rectory, and that provision was lately by papal authority ordered to be made to him of the canonry and prebend of Fyenayim in Ardfert, value not exceeding 14 marks. 1421. 4 Id. April. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 93.)	To the archdeacon of Kildare (Daren.). Mandate to collate and assign to James Clement, priest, of the diocese of Dublin, the archdeaconry of Glandelak in Dublin, a non-major non-elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 40 marks, void by the death of James Symonis, although John Taylonia (sic), clerk, of the diocese of Leighlin, who is to be summoned and removed, unduly detains possession; whether it became void as above, or by the death of John Capy or otherwise, and notwithstanding that the pope lately granted provision to James of the perpetual vicarage, of which he has not got possession, of Nase in the diocese of Kildare (Darentin.), value not exceeding 30 marks, and of a benefice with or without cure, wont to be assigned to secular clerks, in the common or several gift of the archbishop and the dean and chapter of Dublin and of the prior and convent of the Hospitallers’ house of Kylmaynan in the diocese of Dublin [above, p. 162]. Upon obtaining the said archdeaconry under these presents, the above grant is to be null as regards the said vicarage and a benefice with cure only. Dignum etc. (Ja. xxii. Quinto Id. 4 Id. March. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 112d.)	To the bishop of Ventimiglia and the archdeacons of Cork and Cloyne. Mandate to collate and assign to Robert Howgan alias de Cork, rector of Compton Basset in the diocese of Salisbury, B.C.L., abbreviator of papal letters, who has studied canon and civil law for more than eight years at Oxford, has meanwhile exercised several scholastic acts, and has for some time lectured in civil law, the chancellorship of Limerick, a non-major dignity with cure, value not exceeding 50 marks, void by the death of Thomas FitzJon de Geraldinis; notwithstanding that he holds the said church, and that the pope has lately ordered provision to be made to him of the perpetual vicarage of Kynsalle in the diocese of Cork and of the canonry and prebend of Tylachbrik in Limerick, value not exceeding 24, 60 and 16 marks respectively, of which canonry and prebend and vicarage he has not yet got possession, and of a canonry of Cork with reservation of a prebend. He is hereby dispensed to hold together for seven years the said chancellorship and vicarage, upon obtaining which two benefices he is to resign Compton Basset. Within the said period he is to exchange whichever he chooses of the said chancellorship and vicarage for another benefice compatible with the one retained; if not, he is thereafter to resign that one of them which he obtains first. Mandate to reserve and to collate and assign to Duncan Heruy, perpetual vicar of Lunmey in the diocese of Aberdeen, a benefice with or without cure, wont to be assigned to secular clerks, value not exceeding 25 or 18 marks sterling accordingly, in the gift of the Cistercian abbot and convent of Der in the said diocese; notwithstanding that he holds the said vicarage, value not exceeding 10 marks which, upon obtaining such benefice with cure, he is to resign. Reservation to him (who is a priest, and who by reason of his said vicarage has to pay episcopal dues etc. and keep hospitality after the manner of those parts, and who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted etc. as above, f. 4) of a benefice with or without cure, even if a canonry and prebend in a cathedral church, value not exceeding 25 or 18 marks accordingly, in the common or several gift of the bishops and the deans and chapters etc. of Killaloe and Limerick; notwithstanding that he holds the said vicarage, value not exceeding 4 marks, together with which he is hereby dispensed to hold such benefice if without cure for life, or if with cure for two years only, during which he may resign either for a compatible benefice, in which case he may hold together for life such compatible benefice and the benefice with cure or his said vicarage; if he do not so exchange within the said two years, he shall thereafter resign the vicarage.
