Mandate to inform himself as to the merits of Cornelius Yruogyn, canon of the priory of St. Mary Magdalen, Grenoble, O.S.A., who is a priest and says that he is a canon of the said Order, is of noble birth, has studied canon law for many years, and is the son of a priest, canon of the same Order, and an unmarried woman, and if he find him fit, to make provision to him of the abbey of St. Mary, Inysgad, of the said Order, in the diocese of Killaloe, value not exceeding 12 marks, void by the death of Thomas Ohymuyr; provided that at the present date provision of the abbey has not been already made. Grant as below. Benedict XIII appropriated to the abbatial mensa of Melros, O. Cist., in the diocese of Glasgow, the parish church of Magna Caveris in the said diocese, a perpetual vicar's portion being reserved; and the present pope, at the petition of the abbey and convent, stating that they had obtained possession of the said church, value not exceeding 80l. of old sterlings, that of the monastery not exceeding 800l., and that a portion had been assigned as above, confirmed the appropriation. At their recent petition, containing that the monastery's fruits etc. (out of which, after having obtained possession as above, they have assigned a certain yearly pension to one who claimed to have a right in the said church, in order that they might not suffer vexation from him, which pension they subsequently converted into a lump sum) are worth more than is stated above, but not more than 900l., on account of which they fear molestation in respect of the said church, the pope grants that the said appropriation and his former confirmation shall nevertheless hold good from the present date, and for their greater safeguard makes the appropriation anew.
