1482. 18 Kal. Dec. (14 Nov.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 59r.)	To John Ofaelan, a canon of Ferns. Mandate to collate and assign to Bernard Macmeanman Ydohnmayll, priest, of the diocese of Raphoe (who was lately dispensed by papal authority on account of illegitimacy, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and receive and retain a benefice even with cure, and to resign it, as often as he pleased, after which, having been so promoted, he obtained by canonical collation the rectory of the parish church called [the church] of the house of St. Bohynus in the said diocese, which he has resigned), the perpetual vicarage of the parish church called [the church] de Sustine(n)tia in the said diocese, value 10 marks sterling, void at the apostolic see by the death there of Donald Ochahan, and therefore ipso facto reserved to the pope. 1483. 13 Kal. May. (19 April.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 110r.)	To the bishop of Glasgow. Mandate to receive John Hepburn, clerk, of St. Andrews, who is by both parents of baronial birth, if he be found fit, as a canon of the church of St. Andrew in Scotland, O.S.A., give him the regular habit, and receive his profession as a canon of the said church. Before being so received and making his profession he is to resign all his benefices. Cupientibus vitam ducere regularem. [1 p.]

Mandate, recapitulating the preceding, to collate and assign to the above John, even before he has been so received and before the habit has been given him, and before making his profession, the priorship of the above church, a major dignity, value 1080l. (fn. 2) sterling, void by the death extra R.c. of William Cameron, and therefore reserved to the pope under his late reservation of all major dignities, void and to be void; even if it be specially reserved, or be generally reserved because, as some allege, the said William was an acolyte chaplain of the apostolic see, (fn. 3) or whether it be otherwise generally reserved, and whether it be elective and have cure, etc. Dignum etc. (At the end: G. lxxx. 1482[–3]. 19 Kal. Feb. (14 Jan.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 134v.)	To the prior of the monastery of Ballinskelligs (Sancti Michaelis de Rupe) in the diocese of Ardfert, wont to be governed by a prior. Mandate, as below. The recent petition of Maurice Ysunneuayn [sic], clerk, of the diocese of Ardfert, contained that after he had been dispensed by papal authority on account of illegitimacy, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, [both] of noble birth, and related in the third and fourth degrees of kindred and in the double fourth degree of affinity, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, and had obtained the perpetual vicarage of Aghadoe (de Achadeo) in the said diocese in virtue of other letters of the pope, Philip, bishop of Ardfert, with consent of the chapter, erected by his ordinary authority a canonry of Ardfert and from the said vicarage a prebend, and made de facto provision thereof to the said Maurice, who under pretext thereof took possession, and has de facto detained them for between two and three years, thereby contracting disability. The said collation and provision being therefore without force, and the said canonry and prebend thus erected being still from their erection void, and the perpetual vicarage of Kyllgayuayn [sic] in the said diocese being also void, and having been so long void that its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see, although Donald Ossulleuayn, priest, has detained it for between twenty-one and twenty-two years, without any title or right, and the said petition adding that there is a doubt about the force of the said erection, the pope, hereby rehabilitating the said Maurice, orders the above prior to erect anew the said canonry and prebend, with consent of the bishop and chapter, for the lifetime of the said Maurice, and, if he find him to be fit, to collate and assign them to him, value 10 marks sterling, and to unite thereto, for as long as he shall hold them, the said vicarage of Kyllgaynayn, value 6 marks sterling, the said Donald being summoned and removed. 11 Kal. March. (19 Feb.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 168v.)	To the dean, the archdeacon and the treasurer of Cashel. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by Matthew, bishop of Clonfert, that Theodericus Obreym, dean of Kilmacduagh (Duacen.), who holds in commendam by papal grant and dispensation the monastery of Clare (de Forgio alias de Clar), O.S.A., in the diocese of Killaloe (Laon[i]en.), has dilapidated and dissipated the precious moveables thereof, and sold and alienated its immoveables, and has converted the price arising therefrom to his own low and damnable uses. (fn. 4) The pope, therefore. hereby orders the above three, if the said bishop (who alleges that he cannot keep up his dignity with the fruits etc. of the episcopal mensa of Clonfert, not exceeding a yearly value of 100 marks sterling), will accuse the said Theodericus before them, to summon the latter, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him from the rule etc. of the said monastery, and in that event to grant the said monastery, the church of which has the cure of souls of the parishioners, (fn. 5) and the yearly value of which does not exceed 60 marks sterling, to the said bishop in commendam for as long as he shall be bishop of the said church. Before he takes part in the rule etc. of the said monastery, he is to take to the above three or one of them the usual oath of fealty, according to the form enclosed, and send it to the pope by his letters patent, sealed with his seal. Kal. March. (1 March.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 182v.)	To Dermit Obreyn and Matthew Obreyn and Dermit Okelly, canons of Killaloe (Laon[i]en.). Mandate, as below. The pope has learned that the priorship of the church of Vniscay (recte Yniscay, i.e. Iniscay) in the diocese of Killaloe, which is secular and collegiate, and the priorship of which is a principal dignity, became and is void, and ipso facto reserved to the pope, because Maurice Ogillasenayn the elder, priest, when holding a certain portion with cure in the same church obtained by canonical collation the said priorship, which also has cure, and detained them together for more than a month against ‘Execrabilis,' without dispensation, and after the lapse of the said month has continued to detain them for between sixteen and twenty years, without any other fresh title. The pope, therefore, hereby orders the above three to collate and assign the said priorship, nonelective and value 5 marks sterling, to Maurice Ogillasenayn the younger, a perpetual portionary in the said church (who is a priest, and who alleges that he was lately dispensed by papal authority on account of illegitimacy, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure), the said Maurice the elder being summoned and removed. The pope further dispenses the said Maurice the younger to receive the said priorship, and to retain it for life with the said portion, also with cure, value 3 marks sterling, even under one and the same roof, notwithstanding the said defect, etc. Vite etc. (At the end: N. xxx. 1483. 3 Id. April. (11 April.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 201v.)	To the abbot of the monastery of St. Mary, Enyscat, and the prior of the secular and collegiate church of Inniscac, in the diocese of Killaloe (Laonien.), and Dermit Obrien, a canon of Killaloe. Mandate, as below. The pope has learned that the perpetual vicarages of Kyllfynatan and Cluynleyg in the diocese of Killaloe have been so long void that their collation has lapsed to the apostolic see, although John Odolan and Dermit Osyda, priests, respectively, have detained them for some years, without any title or right. The pope, therefore, at the recent petition of Thady [son] of Matthew Macconmara, treasurer of Killaloe, orders the above three to summon the said John and Dermit, and unite the said vicarages to the said treasurership, value 14 and 8 marks sterling, respectively, for the lifetime of the said Thady, who is by both parents of noble birth. 9 Kal. May. (23 April.) St. Peter s, Rome. (f. 280r.)	To the abbots of Abbrothoe [sic] and Lundores, and the provost of St. Giles's, Edinburgh, (fn. 7) in the diocese of St. Andrews. Mandate (the pope having been informed (fn. 8) by William Wawan, clerk, of the diocese of St. Andrews, M.A., that John Gardin, perpetual vicar of Kerymont in the said diocese, has celebrated masses and other divine offices, when under sentence of excommunication, etc., thereby contracting irregularity), if the said William will accuse the said John before them, to summon the latter, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, value 20l. sterling, to the said William.
