Mandate to collate and assign to Alexander Doby, priest, of the diocese of Glasgow, the perpetual vicarage of Logymortho in the diocese of St. Andrews, value 8l. sterling, void by the resignation of Thomas Holyng to the pope, made by his proctor Robert Broun, clerk, of the diocese of St. Andrews, and therefore ipso facto reserved to the pope. Kal. July. (1 July.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 162v.)	To the archbishop of Armagh, John Ofaelan, a canon of Ferns, and James Haelan, a canon of Kildare (Daren.). Mandate, the priorship of the monastery of St. Mary, Tristyrnach alias Kylbiski [sic], wont to be governed by a prior, O.S.A., in the diocese of Meath, having become void at the apostolic see, and therefore ipso facto reserved to the pope, by the death there of Simon Nugent, to receive William Ofaelyn, clerk, of the diocese of Lismore (who was lately dispensed by authority of the ordinary on account of illegitimacy, as the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried or a married woman, (fn. 2) to be made a clerk and hold a benefice without cure, after which he was made a clerk), as a canon of the said monastery, give him the habit thereof, and receive his profession, and thereupon to collate and assign to him the said priorship, conventual, elective and with cure, value 75 marks sterling. The pope hereby dispenses him to be promoted to all, even holy orders and receive the said priorship, even when a secular clerk, and, without taking the habit and making his profession, to retain it until he obtains peaceful possession, notwithstanding the said defect, etc. As soon as he has been received as a canon and has made his profession, etc., he shall be bound to resign the benefice which he holds, etc.; and as soon as he obtains peaceful possession he shall be bound to take the said habit and make the said profession, otherwise he shall be bound to resign. Translating him, [bishop] elect of Ross, from that church (of which he has not yet been consecrated bishop) to the church of Aberdeen, void by the translation, made by the pope this day, of Robert, [now bishop] elect of Glasgow, then [bishop] elect of Aberdeen, from the church of Aberdeen (of which he has not yet been consecrated bishop), to that of Glasgow, void in a certain way. Credite nobis.

Faculty for him, whom the pope has recently translated from the church of Ross to that of Aberdeen, to be consecrated by any catholic bishop of his choice in communion with the apostolic see, assisted by two or three like bishops. The consecrating bishop is to receive from him the usual oath of fealty, according to the form enclosed, and William is to send it to the pope by his letters patent, sealed with his seal (fn. 3); without prejudice to the archbishop of St. Andrews. Translating him, [bishop] elect of Aberdeen, from that church (provision of which, on its voidance in a certain way, was made to him by the pope, and of which he has not yet been consecrated bishop) to that of Glasgow, void by the death of John extra R.c., during whose lifetime it was specially reserved by the pope.
