To John Achinson, abbot of St. Mary's Newebotill, O. Cist., in the diocese of St. Andrews. Provision of the said monastery, to which, on its voidance by the death of John Crethon extra R.c. (during whose lifetime it was specially reserved by the pope) he, then a monk thereof and in priest's orders, was de facto elected by the convent, perhaps in ignorance of the said reservation, to which election he, likewise ignorant, gave his consent, also de facto, and had it confirmed, likewise de facto and in like ignorance, by Richard, abbot of Melros, of the said order, in the diocese of Glasgow, the father-abbot of St. Mary's, and, upon learning the said reservation, has caused the foregoing to be set forth in consistory before the pope.
