2 Sixtus IV.

De Beneficiis Vacantibus.

1472[–3.]
14 Kal. April.
(19 March.)
St. Peter's, Rome.
(f. 18v.)
To the abbot of SS. Peter and Paul the Apostles’ de Forgio alias de Clar in the diocese of Killaloe (Laonien.), Matthew Obricyn, a canon of Killaloe, and the official of the same. Mandate, as below. The pope has learned that the perpetual vicarage of Killeamayr (fn. 2) in the diocese of Killaloe is void because Thady Ogyllaseuayn, priest, obtained it, by collation made by authority of the ordinary, when holding one of the many portions of the collegiate church of Inyskahy in the said diocese, called the portion of Kylltellynd, with cure of souls, and that another of the said portions, called the portion of Raykcasgyn, with cure of souls, is void because Denis Okaelli, priest, obtained it, by collation made by the said authority, when holding the perpetual vicarage of Killfedan (?) (fn. 3) in the said diocese, and because they held together the said vicarage of Killeamayr and portion of Kylltellynd, and the said portion of Raybcasgyn [sic] and vicarage of Killfedan (?), respectively, for more than a month, contrary to the constitution Execrabilis, (fn. 4) wherefore the said vicarage of Kylleamayr and portion of Raykcasgyn are by the said constitution reserved to the pope. The pope, therefore, hereby orders the above three to collate and assign to Rory Okaelly, priest, of the said diocese (who alleges that the said Thady has detained possession of the said vicarage of Kyllcamayr [sic] for between five and seven years, and the said Denis the said portion of Raykcasgyn for between seven and ten years, after the said month, without papal dispensation and without any title), after summoning the said Thady and Denis and others concerned, the said vicarage of Kyllcamayr [sic], and the said portion of Raykcasgyn, value not exceeding 4 and 2 marks respectively, inducting him, and removing the said Thady and Denis and any other unlawful detainers. The pope hereby specially dispenses him to receive and retain them together for life, and to resign them, simply or for exchange, when (fn. 5) he pleases, and receive instead and retain for life two other similar or dissimilar incompatible benefices, and wills that as soon as he obtains possession of them he shall, as he has offered, resign the perpetual vicarage of Kyllroys (?) (fn. 6) in the said diocese, if in the meantime he obtain possession of it under a provision which has been made to him thereof by papal authority, or give up all right therein or thereto. Vite etc. [4 pp.]
