Confirmation of an arbitration award, as below. The petition of William Cameron, prior of St. Andrews, O.S.A., and John Valace, (fn. 1) clerk, of the diocese of Glasgow, contained that upon a cause arising between them about the said priory, a major dignity, each of them claiming that provision had been made to him thereof, Paul II committed the cause to Berardus, cardinal priest of St. Sabina's, and, after he had taken some proceedings, remitted it to the papal Camera, after which it was committed to Oliver, cardinal priest of St. Eusebius's, and, after he had taken some proceedings, and had left the Roman court on a legation, the pope committed it to William, bishop of Ostia, called the cardinal of Rouen; and that after the said cardinal bishop had proceeded, short of a conclusion, the said William and John agreed to take the said cardinal bishop as arbitrator, who awarded the priory to William, and a pension therefrom of 100l. of the money of Scotland to John, to be paid by William until by means (opera) of him or of Patrick, bishop of St. Andrews, provision had been made to John of a benefice of equal value, which award the parties approved and ratified, as is contained in a public instrument (here exemplified) setting forth the terms of the said award, dated in the said cardinal's lodiging at Rome, 1472, indiction 5, 10 July, anno 1 Sixti IV., in the presence of the said Patrick, bishop of St. Andrews, and three other (foreign) witnesses (named). To William Manypeny, a canon of the priory of Royston, O.S.A., in the diocese of London. Dispensation (he having lately, when prior of Blakamore, O.S.A., in the diocese of London, obtained by presentation of the patron, and institution by the late John, bishop of Lincoln, the rectory of the parish church of Snelleslond, in the diocese of Lincoln, which he is holding), to hold the said church, or without it any other benefice with or without cure, wont to be held by secular clerks, and to resign or exchange it, notwithstanding that he has made his profession of the said priory of Royston, etc. Religionis zelus, vite etc. [In the margin: De.
