To the archdeacon of Derry (Deren.), Patrick Homerghaid (sic) a canon of Derry, and the prior of St. Mary's, Dungerbhin (recte Dungeibhin), in the diocese of Derry. Mandate to cause Henry Olonan, clerk, of the diocese of Derry, to be received as a monk of the Cistercian monastery of St. Mary Macosquin (de Clarofonte alias de Magoscan) in the said diocese, and to give him the regular habit and receive his profession. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Henry Olonan, clerk, of the diocese of Derry, that Patrick Hofflanur, abbot of the above monastery of St. Mary Macosquin, has dilapidated etc. and converted to evil uses the goods thereof, committed simony and openly kept a concubine, and is a dilapidator, simoniac, and open fornicator and excommunicate, about which and divers other crimes he is greatly defamed in those parts; and the pope having ordered the above three to cause the said Henry etc., as in the preceding) if and after Henry (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which he had himself made a clerk) accuses Patrick before the above three, to summon Patrick and others concerned, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove Patrick, and in that event to make provision to Henry, if found fit, of the said monastery, value not exceeding 12 marks sterling. They are further to cause him to be blessed by any catholic bishop of his choice, and the pope hereby dispenses him to be appointed abbot etc. notwithstanding the said defect etc. Ex suscepte servitutis. To the abbot of Lysgabayl in the diocese of Clogher, and Thady Macgillacosgli, a canon of Clogher. Mandate to receive and admit for this turn only the resignation which Bartholomew Offlamagan (sic), prior of the Augustinian monastery of St. Mary de Daynis (sic) in the diocese of Clogher, wont to be governed by a prior, proposes to make thereof, and thereupon to collate and assign the priory, which is conventual and whose value does not exceed 12 marks sterling, even if it be elective and have cure, to Laurence Off[l]anagan, a canon of the same, who, after he had made his regular profession as a canon thereof, caused himself, notwithstanding his illegitimacy as the son of the said Bartholomew, then a priest and expressly professed of the said order, and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all even holy orders. The pope hereby dispenses him to receive and retain it, notwithstanding that his said father (genitor) ministered in the priory immediately [before him], and notwithstanding the said defect etc. They are to see that there be no corruption between Bartholomew and Laurence.
