Footnotes

  • 1. i.e. in the case of Calixtus III, between the numbers of the Libri, or Registers, as given in the MS. Indici described above, pp. v sqq., and the present numbers of the Registers, For the following Concordance, see also above, p. viii.
  • 2. i.e. the present number of each ‘Lateran’ Register, as followed in the present volume of the Calendar.
  • 3. Here, and in the similar cases where there is no modern number, the Register is lost.
  • 4. A blank in the Concordantia, and no explanatory note.
  • 5. A blank in the Concordantia, and no explanatory note.
  • 6. Since the Concordantia was made, the word ‘reservat.’ has been appended to this number. This register was, however, examined by the present editor. See Cal., vol. VI, pp. 83–87.
  • 7. So in the Concordantia. One of the two ought apparently to have the number ‘154,’ which is otherwise wanting.
  • 8. In the margin of the Concordantia is the note ‘X. 10 manea,’ i.e. liber 10 of the 10th year is missing.
  • 9. Apparently cancelled in the Concordantia.
  • 10. In the Concordantia this is called ‘534A.’ It has since been re-numbered 534. It will be observed that according to this list, of the Libri or Registers which survived when the Indici described above (pp. v sqq.) were compiled, six have been lost. The actual number lost was, however, apparently only five, so that there appears to be an error in the Concordantia. See above, p. vi and below, p. xxv note*.
