1450. 6 Kal. April. (27 March.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 8.)	To William Fallan', archdeacon of London. Grant to him (whom Eugenius IV dispensed to hold for life two, and afterwards a third, benefices with cure and incompatible, even if dignities etc., and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleased, not more than two such benefices being parish churches or perpetual vicarages; and who holds in virtue of the said dispensation the said archdeaconry and the parish churches of St. Magnus, London, and Lavenham in the diocese of Norwich [values not stated], and is one of the barons in the exchequer of king Henry) that if the letters of dispensation have not yet been exhibited and presented to the ordinaries and registered in their registers, at the proper time according to custom, he may exhibit and present them and have them registered in the said registers, and that the said letters shall have their effect as if they had been so exhibited etc.; the pope hereby annulling any collations and provisions made to any persons of the said archdeaconry and parish churches, under pretext of the aforesaid. Indult to choose a priest, secular or regular of any order, as their confessor, who may hear their confessions and those of their household servants, and grant them absolution, once only, even in cases reserved to the apostolic see, in other cases as often as opportune, enjoining penance, and moreover administer the sacraments to the same; also to have a portable altar, on which they may have mass and other divine offices celebrated even before daybreak and, privately, in places under interdict, in presence of themselves and the said servants. Faculty, at their recent petition (containing that the said monastery is almost fifty miles from Lincoln, wherefore it is very difficult for its monks to go thither, and very often to other places where the bishops of Lincoln or their vicars go for ordination, and for the abbot and convent to do likewise for the blessing of vestments, chalices, palls and altar paraments and other ecclesiastical ornaments), that the abbots for the time being may promote such monks to all minor orders, and bless such vestments etc., as often as opportune, and may also cause their monks to be promoted by any catholic bishop, namely those in their seventeenth year the subdiaconate, those in their nineteenth year to the diaconate and those in their twenty-second year, whom the pope hereby dispenses for the purpose, to the priesthood.Sedis apostolice graciosa benignitas. Mandate, at the recent petition of the chapter of the church of St. Thomas the Martyr, Glasney, in the diocese of Exeter (containing that the fruits etc. of the sacristship, which has cure, are too slight for the maintenance etc. of the sacrist, wherefore, it being deemed to be incompatible with another benefice with cure, John Fouler, priest, lately resigned it, since when, nobody having sought provision of it, it has remained and is still void), if he find the facts to be so, to decree that the said sacristship may be held in future and in perpetuity as if compatible. with any benefice having cure or otherwise incompatible.Universalis ecclesie. Revocation and annulment, motu proprio, giving exemplification, of the pope's late letters In eminentis dignitatis, dated at St. Peter's, Rome, 1449[-50] 5 Kal. Feb. anno 3, ordering the archdeacon of Glasgow, at the petition of Thomas, [bishop] elect of Whiteherne and William, earl of Douglas and high warden (magni gardiani) of Annandale (Anandale) and lord of Galloway (Galwidie), of the diocese of Whiteherne, to appropriate in perpetuity to the episcopal mensa of the said church of Whiteherne, which is within the temporal domain of the said earl, the parish church of Kyrkynner situate at the doors (in foribus) of the said cathedral church, value not exceeding 30l. and 130l. sterling respectively, reserving a portion for a perpetual vicar; the pope having learned that the bishops of Whiteherne have hitherto kept up their dignity without the said appropriation, and that it would be greatly prejudicial to Thomas de Levingston, bishop in the universal church, to whom, on the voidance of the said church at the apostolic see by the death there of Adam de Hamylton, the pope granted it in commendam until provision should be made to him of another cathedral church and he should get possession thereof.
