To Denis Otyernayd, a monk of the Cistercian monastery of St. Mary, Corcomroe (de Petra fertili), in the diocese of Kilfenora (Finnaboren.). Dispensation to him, who is a priest, to hold (notwithstanding his illegitimacy as the son of a priest, a professed monk of the above order, and an unmarried woman) a benefice with or without cure wont to be governed by monks of the above monastery, value not exceeding 30 marks sterling, in the gift of the abbot and convent, even if an administration or office, elective and with cure, provided that such office be not claustral. To Gilbert Makdonyl, perpetual vicar of Kirkmaiden in Rhinns (S. Medane in Lyrennis), of the Premonstratensian order, in the diocese of Whiteherne. Reservation to him (who was formerly dispensed by papal authority, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice with cure wont to be governed by canons of the Premonstratensian monastery of Saulseat (Sedis animarum) in the above diocese; who, after making his profession in the said order, and after the said dispensation, had himself promoted to all holy orders and obtained the vicarage of the above church, which is united to the abbatial mensa of the said monastery and whose cure has been wont to be exercised by a vicar, a canon of the monastery; and who for the exercise of the said cure, although the parish is very populous and is about eight Italian miles round (fn. 3), receives only 3l. sterling a year from the abbot) of a benefice with or without cure, to be held by him in commendam, wont to be governed by canons of the church of Whiteherne or of the monastery of Holywood (Sacri nemoris) in the diocese of Glasgow, of the said order, in the gift of the bishop and the prior and chapter of Whiteheme and the abbot and convent of Holywood respectively, even if a priorship etc. or office, provided that such priorship be not conventual nor such office claustral, value not exceeding 25 marks sterling in parts where the old taxation of the tenth has been reduced to half, or 18 in other parts.
