1451[–2]. 13 Kal. Feb. (20 Jan.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 7d.)	To David, bishop of Dromore. Confirmation etc., as below. Lately, upon his setting forth to Eugenius IV that on account of wars etc. he had received nothing and had no hope of receiving anything from the fruits etc. of his church of Dromore, the said pope dispensed to him to hold therewith in commendam any benefice with or without cure, even if a canonry and prebend or a dignity etc. [Cal. Lett., VIII, pp. 643, 644], and subsequently (after the said bishop had obtained, in virtue of the said dispensation, the archdeaconry of Brekenock in St. Davids) dispensed him to exchange it for another benefice with or without cure, not however in a cathedral or collegiate church, and hold such benefice in commendam for life [Cal. Lett. IX, pp. 361, 362]. Afterwards, as his recent petition contained, for the sake of peace and concord and as a result of the intervention of John, bishop of St. Davids, he gave up the suit which was pending about the said archdeaconry between him and John Waldebeff, priest, of the diocese of St. Davids, and resigned the archdeaconry itself, of which he was in possession, after which, on the voidance of the parish church of Rostrothur in the said diocese, the said bishop made him provision thereof, in virtue of which he obtained and still holds possession. At his said petition, containing that he doubts whether the said provision holds good, the pope hereby confirms it and its consequences etc., and moreover dispenses him, who is a Carmelite, to hold the said church in commendam together with that of Dromore or, if he resign the latter, together with any other church, or without any other such church for life, and to resign, simply or for exchange, etc. Personam tuam.
